What skills apply to maximise returns when refining or reprocessing? I'm ignoring tax as I don't pay it thanks to standings. As far as I'm aware the following is true:
Refining Ore - Refining, Refinery Efficency, <specifc ore>
It is not possible to refine without any losses unless you have at least 1 rank in the specific ore you are trying to refine, though there is no difference between Refinery Efficency IV and V.
Reprocessing Modules - Refining, Refinery Efficency, Scrapmetal Reprocessing? Reprocessing Drone Alloys - Refining, Refinery Efficency, Scrapmetal Reprocessing? Reprocessing Metal Scraps - Refining, Refinery Efficency, Scrapmetal Reprocessing?
I'm not sure on the above - its basically what I'm looking for confirmation on. If it works like normal ore then Scrapmetal Reprocessing I would be required to eliminate losses.

1. There is a diffrence between Raf Eff 4 and 5, but if you have processing, then you alredy have perfect reffining.
2. Ore processings are for ores, Ice processing is for ice, Scrapmetal processing is for everythng else. |

Well looking at refining in empire stations with a base 50% there is no difference that I could see from looking at Halada's mining guide. I don't yet have scrapmetal processing trained (due in part to not yet having refinery efficency V)

The last was what I was looking for confirmation on - someone told me the other day that scrapmetal processing didn't apply to metal scraps or drone alloys.
Cheers

There may be little to no difference with Efficiency IV to V, but keep in mind that you need Refinery Efficiency V as a prequesite to some 0.0 ore processing skills (Arkonor and the like). |

Refinery Efficiency 5 is also a prereq for Scrapmetal Processing.

Not all empire stations are 50% equipment either. It's something you need to pay attention to. I once made the mistake of refining in an Ishukone station without checking, then wondered why I got significantly less than I thought I would. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

Yield = <facilities base> + <refining base> * (1 + Refining Skill Level * 0.02) * (1 + Refinery Efficiency Skill Level * 0.04) * (1 + Material Skill Level * 0.05)
Typically at 50% facilities with a 37.5% refining base.
Note that at Refining 5 and Refinery Efficiency 5 and no skill on the material:
Yield = 50% + 37.5% * 1.10 * 1.20 = 99.5%
This is where 1/5 in ore, ice, or scrap metal processing comes in to get you that last 0.5%, which may not be worthwhile to some people.
There are implants for 1% up to 4%, so you don't need the material skill with one plugged-in.

The Zainou Beancounter H40 to H60? The descriptions only mention refining benefits. Do they also give the same benefits to scrapmetal processing? |

Refining and Reprocessing are the same thing as far as the game is concerned. It's just that one word is generally used for minerals and the other word for modules. For instance the skills "Refining" and "Refinery Efficiency" also affect reprocessing modules even though the name might imply they only apply to minerals.

It most certainly does help drone alloys.
