I just came back I kinda need a reference to all this T3 stuff and I'm still a huge fan of the Domi, some insight would be great. Seems like all T1 BS's BC's and Cruisers are going going to disappear from the market, and all low SP players that are stuck learning T1 ships are going to get mighty ****ed off at the OP that is T3. I'm just wondering about this whole T3 introduction, I might be completely off base but would love to be educated on these new ships.
PS: The tank I saw on a Proteus (on youtube), was like watching a carrier fight. Am I missing something here.

If it's a neut domi the proteus is a free kill. Nos domis are outdated btw.

I think you really need to read up on a lot of new game info, you seem drastically behind.
T3 isn't all that it was hyped and it didn't kill the T1/T2 market. T3 is ridiculously expensive (for most people) and only really shines if it's faction fit, adding to the cost. The Proteus and Tengu seem to be the only worthwhile ships as well because the Legion and Loki offer not much that their T2/T1 counterparts don't already offer aside from possibly things like the Covert Subsystem, Interdiction Nullifier, and the Scanning Subsystem.
The Proteus and Tengu are nice, especially if you were to get a group of them to make fast hits in Null, but their pricetag just makes them expensive toys, albeit effective ones. Also, despite the awesome tank and dps they have, they still die to any group of competent players so they aren't going to be replacing normal ships anytime soon. |

Edited by: Khiimera on 23/06/2009 02:18:51 That's what I want to hear thanks. I don't want to give up on the game, it has saved me from the the attitude and Terribads of WOW. I really like Eve because you don't have to make it into a time sink, but when T3 came out I thought I would have to start all over again. |

Never forget cost vs effect.
The price and difficulty involved in constructing a t3 ship means that they will never really be better than t1
t1 forever!

Lol. Maybe if you want to fly cheap junk and die all the time, T1 is fine. But for those of us who prefer to win, T3 will be awesome once the promised price drop finally happens. Not that this really changes anything, of course, since T3 is competing with T2, not T1, as T1 ships are already pretty much obsolete except for a few BCs and BBs.
As for the OP: the Proteus is awful, and any decent Dominix pilot should kill one effortlessly. Web, scram, and neut it, and go make yourself a sandwich while you wait for your drones to finish tearing through all of its armor. -----------

Wait what?
T1 was never made obsolete, people just assume that it is. Most any BS with a neut and some medium drones will destroy most tech II ships, this goes double for the domi. A fleet of BSs is still the norm in 0.0 engagements, because a good t1 BS still outdamages any t2 ship AND it costs nearly nothing to lose. The tier 2 BCs for every race have their uses in pvp, and while t1 cruisers may not be that great, they do well for something so insanely cheap and compared to gear you get into after about a week of playing in other games cruisers are insanely good. |

Hmm, I never got that memo... oh well, who cares, T1 and T2 both work fine for me.
