Edited by: SnanS on 25/06/2009 05:47:49 I was wondering what strategies have been successful in dealing with cloakers camping in system. The "fishing" method seems to work OK, but is very passive. I am trying to move away from bait, and throw some dynamite in the water. What other methods have people come up with to deal with the cloaking threat?

I've heard that remembering that cloakers can't do anything of any consequence whatsoever whilst cloaked works well.

Me too, I hate the cowardly carebears, that have 5 battleships in local yet afraid to engage. I'd be understanding if it was 1 on 1, but when there's a whole gang of them, and they hide in fear, it's just pathetic |

You send in a juicy target with some tackle, cloakies engage, you bring in people to make them go boom. ~ The man who smiles when things go wrong has thought of someone to blame it on. |

I guess what I was looking for was on option to sending in that "juicy" target. I was hoping someone had a more proactive method for dealing with the cloaked ships that constantly harass our industrial players. So apparently the only way to deal with them is to send these guys through a gate, or have them mine, and then have 5 hac's ready to jump in on them when they engage the carebear? No one has implemented a better strategy?
Thank you all for the reply's

also, fill the whole system with stealth bombers throwing bombs in all directions!
or just post japanese gameshow videos in local until they go mad and hit self destruct.
honestly, if they are there the "fishing method" works. people bored out of their skulls make mistakes.

A method you can use to decloak someone if you know you are on the same grid as them, is to get a handfull of ships and space them out then start assigning drones to each other so the drones cris/cross around the grid, and hopefully decloak your target. Then let the exploding ensue. |

Gatecamp, or sit at station with instalock ship(s) like a Harbinger with 4 sensor boosters and some heatsinks.
The smallest mistake they make and they are blown up.
They thought you were afraid of them, after you've blown up 2 or 3 like that they fear _you_ and usually move on somewhere else.

Thanks for the advice Selassie M. Sounds like it will work. I have discussed this strategy with the corporation. We should have 1 or 2 instalocking ships sitting on the two gates into our system, as well as 1 or 2 on our station. while I imagine it will be boring work, at least it should deter them from attempting something. I guess the 6 pilots should be fleeted, and ready to assist the other if the 3 in system cloakers attempt to gang up on them right? Regarding the 4 sensor boosters, won't the sensor boosters prevent someone from fitting a point? Once we have them targeted, we also need to keep them from running away right?
Thanks for the help, SnanS

If one comes in, Bubble the station and gates, have people fly from each gate to the station and gate to gate, where they hit the bubble drop something handy like a corpse that a lot of people take off overview, chances are the cloakers will hit the bubble near it decloaking them, popsicle mines Set up the popsicles before hand for a quick response |

I'm not too sure, but I believe putting objects in bubbles just to decloak people is flagged as an exploit.

No, I think that's legit. It's flooding the area around a gate with so many objects that someone coming through is near guaranteed to not get their 30 second session change cloak that was considered an exploit. CCP considers that "immune" time to give you a fair chance to load the game environment.

If you know they are on grid, bring in titan and doomsday them.
if they are AFK there is pretty much nothing to do about them. If they are actually there, fishing and having ships with fast locking is the way. Preferably ships that can one volley and kill them.
