weve been 0.01 isking each other on buy orders for hours now, i dont know how many. i think since down time ended so thats 7 hours. i sent him a convo request a few hours ago and he never answered it. when i try to convo again it says he hasnt decided. one could obviously imagine this as bot like behavior. so i am asking if anybody has encountered this situation before.
i also know that if this serf could have attained a market bot it would be widely available, so it is unlikely. im mostly asking if this has happened to anybody before and for what reason you would straight up ignore a convo request and continue your orders. to his defense, his profile is in a foreign language. however, i still do not see how that explains his lack of conviction regarding the convo request - Mission running: not as exciting as smashing your hand with a hammer, but more painful. |

does that mean you leave the window up or you reject? if the former can you give a more comprehensible explanation? - Mission running: not as exciting as smashing your hand with a hammer, but more painful. |

To annoy people and make them create threads on forums? Thats as good a reason as any IMO.

provide a video that shows an actual market bot in action, and i might believe it.

im starting to time his actions. ive only timed two of his bumps on one of my items. each was approx 12 minutes. if it remains that time constantly i think i will have a hard time believing a human is constantly refreshing a huge list of buy orders for going on 9 hours straight now. only i can do that. (except i only have to watch 6 orders) - Mission running: not as exciting as smashing your hand with a hammer, but more painful. |

He probably thinks you're a bot too. I would, if someone had nothing better to do with their life than 0.01-isk for seven hours straight.

When a convo request pops up, it can be minimized. Some days I don't feel like dealing with people so I minimize convo requests. Also, I always check out, via p&p, who is requesting a convo as well. So not answering is not proof.

I know one bot who seems to stop working after fleet invite! try that also!
You can also play russian roulette with a bot! For example offer him a free marauder while he is updating his orders and keep the trade window open for 30min and see if he accepts it!

im going to worry about it. i thought maybe the market was something a bot could not touch. also, how might i go about setting up a screen shot that will be at least a little convincing. maybe 2 screen shots over time witht he trade window up would be better than 1, but it could still easily be doctored by putting up the trade window briefly each screen shot. |

You seem to be fixating on the bot thing and not thinking things through. Is this what happens after 7hrs of .01 wars?
Now everyone knows eve is a harsh world full of scammers forever looking for new angles and exploits, and if it looks to good to be true it almost definitely is etc. From that perspective, why would anyone in their right mind click on a trade window for the sake of a few isk from some angry stalker.
I also don't get how you can be so sure in your mind that this is a bot, when you are doing exactly the same yourself? The only logical conclusion is that you are running a bot yourself. Either that or you are being illogical.
In the very outside chance that it is a bot, you could start to 'prove' it by monitoring it for a few days. If you find that they are updating around every 12mins (like you say) 23/7 then you might be onto something. Do they have maximum/minimum buy/sell prices above/below which they chip away as usual, and beyond that mark (possibly a percentage) they do nothing at all for a few to several hours? In the unlikely event that they don't have max/min prices set, will they do illogical stuff like manically chip a sell order only a tiny fraction above the first buy order? If you've got deep pockets, or it's a small market, you could really push the markets to extremes here.
That may keep you busy for a few days, and if after that you still think it's a bot, petition it a wait a few months. However, I would bet that you will find it is not a bot sometime during the first night, if not before.
