In WoW you can drink alcohol and have no worries. In EvE one night of drinking could erase years of time played.

Not really, that's pretty much how BoB the alliance (not the random group of corps) got their start.
One night, long ago:
BoB 1: Hey, I'm drunk. BoB 2: So am I. BoB 3: Me too. BoB 1: Hey, let's do something stupid. BoB 3: Like what? BoB 1: I hear there's this Outpost in this system, and we should totally attack it. BoB 3: We can't possibly win. Why bother? BoB 2: For the lulz, duh.
A little later.
BoB 3: Holy ****! BoB 1: Holy ****! BoB 2: Sorry, I had to take the dog out. What did I miss? BoB 1: We took the freaking station. BoB 2: What now? BoB 3: Seriously, we took it. We totally own this station. BoB 2: But we were all supposed to die courageously in a completely suicidal attack. BoB 1: Well, nobody told THEM that. How were we supposed to know our asinine campaign wouldn't completely fail. It was like a million-to-one chance. BoB 2: ****, what are we supposed to do now? BoB 3: Conquer more space?
And the rest is history. |

Thats not true you could randomly give away or trash your inventory. I think. I never really got that far.
Anyways its like this: In WoW to get hurt you have to lock yourself in the bathroom and start hacking away with a razor. In EVE to get hurt you just have to forget to look before crossing the street. |

In WoW you're playing dress-up. In Eve you're pimping your ride.

In WoW you have to deal with these walking cloud things that that crawl up your neck and give you conspicuous hickeys, and you're all like "hey cloud, stop biting my ****ing neck!" but of course they don't listen.
In Eve you don't have to put up with that kind of garbage. |

Average WoW player is older by 1.3 years just to let you know.
However the standard deviation of a WoW players age is fairly high. It is 8.3 so WoW players run the gamut. The standard deviation for Eve players is probably pretty low as younger people either have short attention spans or lack of willingness to learn this game and older people are too busy to learn it. |

here
and I'm assuming this is the article you are speaking of.
Admittedly both of these are a little dated.

Heres the differences between WoW and EVE.
CCP Revenue - $35.88 Million Blizzard Revenue - $1.1 Billion
Oops.
Though seriously, the real diffences are that they're nothing alike. WoW doesn't have a single spaceship in it, so how can you even draw comparisons.
On alcohol - WoW does have a holiday dedicated to getting your character absolutely ****-faced, which is always amusing since the "drunk" effects are amusing.

Shhh! I was hoping they wouldn't remember The Exodar - much like how I didn't.
I reserve my point by saying that the Exodar doesn't even look like a spaceship - moreover its just too convenient that it happened to crash with a door perfectly aligned with the ground.

You can play EVE while being sober too. But it's not advised because it takes all the fun away.

Ahh but you miss a key point. When I mean years of time played if you keep dieing and don't buy clones your skill points will start to revert back to day zero. In wow you can do just about everything but lower your level.

Eve = rabid pack of hungry dingoes tearing through the outback killing everything in sight.
Wow = tame rabbits standing around in a field of clover chewing grass waiting for a pack of dingoes.

Skillpoints do not revert to how you were when you started. And even if you die repeatedly it will take a looong time. Grek Forto Yarring Blog |
