I find that often when i'm running my accounts i have to keep opening the trade window and pass items between my characters ( 1 is a hauler, the other my manufacturer). Now when i ran my own corp and had my own corp hangar this wasn't a problem, in fact i had a tab dedicated for quick and easy transfer of items between characters.
My idea: introduce "shared hangars" which are similar to a corp hangar except they can be set up between X amount of people who don't necessarily have to be in the same corp. You could design it like a corp hangar but then some people may argue "well what's the point of having corp hangars or even corp's even people are just have the easiness of a corp hangar?", so this "shared hangar" could just be 1 division.
This proposal is useful for friends who are in different corps but often work together, or for people in a corp who operate away from corp offices but between each other often.
It's just a simple idea, if you don't like it, fine. I would like to hear people's thought's on why it's a good/bad idea.

Edited by: Ausser on 30/06/2009 20:28:08 How will these hangars be anounced, looked up, found?
How does the access control mechanism looks like to prevent unauthorized access?

Thought i wrote that in, must have been ahead of myself.
Well seeming at though these would be used between friends mainly (or alts) then they would'nt be announced or found, they'd simply be set up between people. The person who set it up would have direct control and can invite/kick people almost like a CEO and then can also assign "director" roles per say, who can also invite/kick.
There could also be an option to assign payment methods, whether the CEO is charged with the bill and then has to collect payments off the participants or whether there is an automated system that equally divides the bill between everyone.

The invitation system is simple and nice.
Billing should be owner only. Splitting the bill just causes database load.
Some more thoughts:
Some corp roles allow to look into the hangars of members to see what stuff is there. I suppose they would get a list with such shared hangars and the option to look into if a member has access to them. They would also need to know who has access, the log/history of access right invitations/kicks, and also maybe the log if there is any. I'm not sure what's needed there.
Use of audit log containers should be restricted somehow so ppl cannot let them vanish via the shared hangar.
Any market use for shared hangar? It would just complicate things if it's allowed to use it for market & contracts.

I say no to this it's to easy to do with secure containers and is the whole point of corporate hangers.
However, I would like to see a way to access the hangers of the other toons on the same account. It is a pain in the butt to have to contract items to yourself to get them moved from one of my toons to another on the same account.
I think you'd see a lot less trial accounts just for the purpose of of being able to use the trade window.

No there wouldn't be any market for "shared hangars" just as there aren't markets for corp hangars, they wud just be set up between X amount of people, nothing more.
Whole purpose of secure containers, please enlighten me as to how using secure containers makes passing items between characters easier. I'm talkin about characters who are either not in the same corp, or don't operate at an office but work closely between each other.
But yes, an audit would also be good. Obviously, these "shared hangars" would only be set up by people who felt they can trust people, whether that leads to scams is....well that's Eve for you. But no, my point here isn't to promote scams but to allow easier transfer of goods between characters and i believe these "shared hangars" that people can rent is a possible way.
