Edited by: Redloc on 01/07/2009 02:40:55 Edited by: Redloc on 01/07/2009 02:39:49 I've seen a lot of threads ABOUT blowing up hulks, but here is my question:
I'm a 4m SP player. Most of it is in missiles and gunnery. I want to gank hulks in high sec! I have a dedicated miner account so I have the funds to throw away. Lets say I wasn't very concerned about making profit, but want to break even/lose only a little while getting my first killmails by ganking miners in high sec. Whats the best type of ship, and strategy? By the way, how do you get their loot, do you just warp back immediately and grab it? If you do, aren't you on aggression from concord and them too, and they can fire on you?
Am I able to use a BC for this, or do I *have* to use a BS? Keep in mind only 4m SP here. What kind of DPS do I need in .6 to kill a hulk? 200? 600?

Before you start slowly chipping away at your sec status by killing Hulks, I recommend going on a massive smartbomb spree in Jita.
Say you're going to jettison free stuff at a planet and then summon the strongest Concordokken of them all

Edited by: Redloc on 01/07/2009 03:03:45 I know I'm a noob, but...
What the heck are you talking about? smartbombs? How will that do anything? Please assume I have zero pvp experience, can you guys explain what all you're talking about?
Basically, I read the *entire* beginners guide to pirating, and all it taught me is about ships and outfits....nothing about how to actually find targets. I have not blown up a single player ship, and the only method that I know of to try is to randomly fly around in low sec, which gets me blobbed, every single time.
How can I find: Fights I have a chance of winning, solo, as a 4m SP player?

Ohh Yeah

Right, so what you do is...
You go to Jita (massive market system, usually 800+ people there). Say in local a few times that you're going to jettison some faction loot. Fit a battleship or BC with the appropriate size smartbombs. When they come running to X location that you told them to come to (after waiting for a bunch of em to get close) turn on all of your smartbombs and kill all of the smaller bastards.
P.S. Your sec status will go from whatever it is now to the point of no return. It's funny as hell though.

Well, I'm sure the lulz would be fantastic, but considering I can't really survive in non empire on my own yet, I'd like another alternative to smart bombing jita :P

Really, what would help me most is just:
How much DPS do you need on a ship, and what are the most common/cheapest outfits for this? And is there any tips I should know besides warp around asteroid belts, lock, and fire?

From what I saw on some of the KMs, it looks like most people were using cheap t1 fit blaster thoraxes to do the suicide ganking. I think I saw a few solo, but most were done by gangs of 3 or so. ----------------------------------------- internet spaceships |

Are you talking about suicide ganking hulks or lowsec pvp in general? (the thread is kind of derailing)
To suicide gank a hulk, divide the concord response time for the system the hulk is in by the cycle time of your weapons. Round that number down (it's the number of volleys you'll get) and multiply by your volley damage in eft. If that number is bigger than the hulks effective HP vs your damage type, then you have a good chance of success. You'll probably need a battleship if you want to do it solo, but as Citamarret said, a group of blaster thoraxs is probably the most efficient way to do it.
If you're just looking for pvp experience I suggest randomly hunting in lowsec (bring a friend or two in frigates, 3-4 frigs will put up a good fight vs anything solo that's not a droneboat). You could also try ore theft or dropping a can outside of a crowded station and naming it "1 v 1" or something to that effect. There are also highsec wardecs and ninja salvaging. Ninja salvaging can sometimes result in some interesting fights, but in my experience they're usually pretty one sided.

Train ganking hulks in high sec by ganking your miner account's hulk in high sec. Drop a can and steal it with your miner the first time. Once you're done buy another hulk and gank it, but this time without stealing the can. uʍop ǝpısdn ǝɹnʇɐuƃıs ʎɯ ƃuıpɐǝɹ ǝɹɐ noʎ

While not a terrible suggestion from a scientific point of view you could do it more effectively (read, cheaply) using the power of mathematics.
