Dear CCP,
Since the previous DT I have had 3 separate occassions when my Warrior II and Acolyte II drones have abandoned themselves upon being recalled, at ranges of 4.5-6km from the dominix I was flying.
What did you do during that DT to reinflict this damned irritating bug on us? Could you please undo it?

Yeah, was about to say. I don't think I've heard of this ever happening. I've heard of drones not doing what they were told and having a mind of their own, never just 'abandoning' themselves, however.
Maybe go to 'Help' channel first to see if there is anyone else experiencing the problem. Definitely don't post it to 'General Discussion' however. There are other forums for this.
And if you really have to, petition. You'll more than likely get a copy/paste response from them, however. _____________________________

Edited by: Taram Caldar on 05/07/2009 11:27:26 Um this has been going on for weeks actually. It's not a regular thing tho, pretty sporadic. I've only ever had it happen during pretty heavy lag though.

Edited by: Misanth on 05/07/2009 12:38:38 I had it happen all the time after last autumns expansion, but since Apocrypha it has gone away. It certainly isn't happening to me right now, but it did happen on a daily base half a year ago.

Last night while station camping etc, my friend's drones decided it would be an EXCELLENT idea to go speeding off after a Gallente Navy Sergeant, as the Gallente Navy had been shooting him some 5 hours earlier that afternoon when he passed through a 1.0 (he's -2.3 or so).
I don't want to know what would've happened to him had the drones managed to get to the NPC frig before he managed to tell them to return to his drone bay...
This happened after their player target docked up and they had no valid targets left to attack. ---

Doh. I was fine after d/t for a few hours, and been fine for a few weeks, but now it started again. Three warrior II's just abandoned by themselves while the other two docked up fine.

Since the last big patch ALL my drones have completely lost there little minds. Mining drones further out then 5k will only return to orbit not to bay, you must tell them to return to bay after they start orbiting. Warrior and Hammer II's have begun to randomly disconnect on return to bay. This doesn't matter if there attached to a frigate, Hulk or Battleship. I had an event when we where running worm holes and the little buggers went from killing a sleeper to strafing my wing man to attacking each other YES they attacked each other then on to kill a sleeper BS (funny and not all at the same time).
And of course my 2 favorites; the drones and sentries will ALWAYS go after the trigger, targeted or not, other side of the field hiding under a roid does not matter. Retarget/ redirect? Ok, no problem theyÆll switch and go back or send just one. And now L4 and L3 npcÆs all focus fire on the drones/sentries. If I pull ergo and deploy they will retarget one drone at a time all will shot it and not go after my ship. Yes back to bay re deploy still draws there drone Killen focus fire. I just love going around and scooping up abandoned drones. Is this a run on sentence or my signature? You decide. |

1) "Focus fire" seems to mean "4 of you go that way, 1 goes to the furthest target in reach and **** it off"
2) "Return to Drone Bay" means "Disconnect and wait to be scooped"
3) "Aggressive" means "Target the trigger"
4) "Return and Orbit" means "Shoot each other"
5) "Engage" makes no sense to a Mining Drone, even though I'm targeting an asteroid.
6) "Mine" and "Mine Repeatedly" imply that someone out there would intentionally send a drone once and then change their minds.

Yea I've had the same thing start happening to me today.
I recall my drones in this case tech 2 hobgoblins
2 came back, the other 3 got about halfway to the ship then abandoned themself.
had to slowboat it back to scoop them up.
been happening all day today to me

I've had drones fly out to 100km from me and abandon themselves, the bastards, then they blew up. I **** you not, it was infuriating but rather funny at the same time.

7) Mining Drones slowboat and continue to mine even after I've told them to Return to Drone Bay. |

To add to the list:
8) drones are again missing structures. It not always happen but part of the time the whole wing of drones start orbiting a target structure at 0 range or actually inside it, so getting 0% hits against it (and I don't mean POS but structures in missions).
One of the big question is if they do the same thing against target ships. As drones don't give any indication of the damage they do, if you and your drones are both firing at the same target it is impossible to know if they are damaging it or not.

Yup, I'm having this a lot lately. My drones just refuse to kill anything that resembles a structure.

I have this too to some extent.
I also get instances where my drones don't fire on targets they've engaged. I usually call them back briefly and re-engage to get them working again.
Shouldn't this be moved to current issues?

I find that if I launch drones that were packaged they do weird things until I recall them and relaunch. Especially if there were already drones in space.
