I trust I don't need to describe the problem in greater detail than state how this weapon system does 10-15% more damage than standard missiles at sub-10km range. As a result, ships that are presumably meant to use rockets (Malediction, Vengeance) are at a disadvantage and/or are not worth using.

Make them like torps, as in they do blaster equivalent DPS, but require target painters and webs on the target.

Since rockets are entirely a frigate weapon, requiring the target to be painted and webbed doesn't make a lot of sense. Requiring a frigate weapon to use mid-slot mods to be effective is only going to make them worse.
Rockets are obviously meant to be the equivalent of blasters, autocannons, and pulse lasers for the missile users, but in most cases they fail to approach the damage of the other weapon systems. To be effective they just need a mild boost in damage.

wtb a small blaster or ac with 10km optimal. rocket dps its fine but they need to hit for full damage mwd and ab frigs

Rockets don't actually have a 10km optimal. With maxed skills they can technically hit at 10km, assuming your target doesn't move away at all. But because rockets only move around 3km/sec, inties can outrun them entirely, and slower frigs that are orbiting can kite them long enough to negate the rocket. Remeber, missile weapons aren't instant hit, so every meter your target moves while it is in the air is another meter the rocket has to cover.

The direction CCP are taking with missiles in general is pretty good but if we are required to fully tackle someone with scram and web to get full damage out of them then they need a massive boost in damage to compensate.

Malediction doesn't need rocket damage bonus to be fixed, it does it's job very very well. The Vengeance on the other hand, does have problems. |
