Edited by: Jovoich on 10/07/2009 13:56:48 Why the hell am I not allowed to post in COAD just because I don't have 10 people in my corp?! I can understand blocking NCP corps but stop taking the **** out of us. I'm part of an R+D corp who is a member of a medium sized alliance. Refusing me the ability to post is just ****ing stupid.

There is an overwhelming amount of argumentation for that rule, built up from years of abuse and trolling.
They had to draw a line somewhere, that cuts out some people, but prevents an overwhelming majority of ****ting things up. Personally I think they have to raise the bar to a corp minimum of say 6000 pilots. Somewhere along those lines.
Just do like everyone else, get a goon or pandemic legion alt.

Why do I want do I want to post there? well for once there is a very nicely written battle report which I enjoyed reading. I just wanted to say grats to the people involved.

For battlereports people go to SCH. Moderated, tight rules, to the point and thoroughly cleaned up.
There's also a nice Battle Database / reporting site here if you must.
CAOD is the toilet of EVE, hasn't been flushed in years.

So you made a thread about the anti-alt corp rule of CAOD stopping your R&D alt in your R&D altcorp from posting? (Seriously, who has an R&D main... who's "taking the ****" now?)

So you're a one man alt corp. The kind of thing (among many others) the CAOD rules were conceived against ....

No, I'm a member of a small R+D corp of 9 people, which is part of a medium sized alliance. All my characters are in my corp. So, no I am not an alt and yes every blue moon I do find myself wanting to post in 'Corporation, Alliance and Organization Discussions' section of the forums

Ok, so you're a two or three man alt corp
Well, 9 people isn't enough. Simple. Alt, main, pet, whichever.
Take it up with CCP, for which these forums are definately not the way to go. Instead you have something like customer support, or if you wish to try and influence policies there is something called the CSM.
Should either option fail, you can still post in places related. Going by the rules as instated by CCP for CAOD:
Quote: Players in corporations with under ten members are encouraged to post in the Warfare & Tactics sub forum.
There you go, there still is a place to mess around in
I must say, you would not be out of place in CAOD however, going by your posting behaviour and aptitude, this obviously fully in context of the toilet that is CAOD. The notion of expecting a response by staff or even the notion of taking the forums as a way for expressing personal sentiment is something which does fit fine with CAOD, but perhaps it might be an idea to look at the underlying reasons why CCP puts rules in place, as opposed to simply having a personal whine.
I'll make it simple. CCP have to draw a line somewhere, and requiring a minimum of 10 characters is already a very, very low bottom limit to somewhat temper the amount of trolling and spamming in the toilet of CAOD. Don't have 10 members? Sucks, but CCP is not here to accomodate everyone, EVE is a pretty dark and cold place, get over it
As for why, well, it's because of the players. Yep, us. We **** things up, causing CCP to reinforce rules and policies.
If you'd spent the time with this whine on recruiting another player, or making another account for print farming, you would have solved your emo problem long ago
There, that'll be 500kk ISK for a small session of education and therapy combined in one.

He only has 3 accounts - that's why his "not-alt" corp has 9 members. Sorry, OP, if you want to be allowed to post on "COAD" you'll need to buy a fourth account to get a 10th member. Or recruit somebody into your one-man (and his alts) show... seriously, it's not like it's hard to get around it.
Also, newsflash mate: a corp full of one player and his entourage of alts is the very epitome of an "alt corp". hth

I understand my main post was full of EMO rage, normally I'd have deleted it until I was able to place my argument in a more constructive way (but heck I was emo raging).
I disagree with CCP that placing this limit on posting in COAD will reduce spam, heck blocking GS would go a long way to helping if they really wanted something to do something about it. All I wanted to do was post my support for a very interesting thread that I saw and instead I feel like I've bin kicked in the teeth.

Well, you see there was a major failure of moderation in COAD. But instead of just banning the abusers CCP came up with stronger and stronger rules about who could post in COAD. Which of course the playerbase just got around.
Some would say blame the idiots who post the one line spammy comments that are as empty of intelligent thought as the poster's brain. And while I have some sympathy for this viewpoint, this is the interweb where idiots abound. And where strong moderation is the only way.

Yeah.
It's probably time to delete CAOD tbh. Either that or make it ISK based, or restrict posting to a handful of alliance or corporated appointed characters.
But afaik CCP have something in mind for battlereports and stuff, part of their big social networking stuff from a previous fanfest. A few months ago they had another post on it, something about incorporating battlereports and such. Like a battledb.com ripoff, just way after the fact and mostly incorrect

If your corp is that small, it's pretty unlikely anyone gives a toss about it or what you have to say.
As is, in fact, the case.

The rule was made to avoid alt posts - many people were putting their alts into alt corps just to post smack in CAOD
Unfortunately, the forum moderators don't have the intellectual capacity to distinguish alt chars from mains, so for their sake, a simple to follow rule was put in place. Anyway, you don't miss much

It isn't like there's appreciably less trolling from alts going on in the CAOD forum as a result of this rule.
Personally, I think they should just ban the accounts of frequent offenders and delete crap posts rather than cut innocent people out of the mix.
All CAOD needs is better moderation.

We shouldn't accept that.
We should change it rather than buying into the idea that it's a necessity to trod off to third-party sites to get information that should be available in EVE's own fora.

A huge leap forward in moderation would be to allow thread owner to moderate replies in his own thread.
That way CCP forum moderators could focus entirely on new thread posters and not every post in the thread.

This would actually be a step backwards and would make the boards pretty one sided with threads that only have posts agreeing with the thread owner and everything else being moderated. Discussion would not be possible at all anymore in such a scenario.
