I was going to push towards tech 2 cruise, but then torps would be useful for PvP setups aswell on other ships. Is there any good setup involving torps on a CNR or are they only good on a Golem?

Cruise missiles have no use at all in PvP. Most pilots use Torps in PvP and T2 Javelins in PvE.
The problem with the CNR in PvP is not its firepower (which is insane if you set it up right) but its survivability, its very hard to successfully buffer tank one and active shield tanks require enormous ISK to be effective.

Even incredibly effective active tanks (deadspace mods, etc) are useless against sustained fire from even a modest enemy gang. A pair of neutron fitted Hyperions will kill a 2000 dps active tank and any decent gang will bring more dpas than that to the party. Plus, you'd be wearing a great big "call me primary!" sign in a cnr. You could fit torps on a standard Raven, however. Include a mwd, missile range rigs and the best shield buffer you can come up with. -- Eventus stultorum magister. |

Sorry I meant this is for PvE, but training 2 weeks would be nice to have skills that are useful for beisdes carebearing.

For PVE you need something that'll hit out to 60km at least. Javelin torps on a golem are the way to go. You'll need to put in the missile range rigs for that too, but it's worth it. -- Eventus stultorum magister. |

Not really an expert anymore but a CN XL booster plus CN SBA, Heavy cap, plus mission hardeners should tank most anything (PvE), but you have to pulse it and therefore might spill your coffee. Speed mod if you are confident about your tank. Mission briefing a must.
CN XL and CN SBA are only like 50 mil each so a great addition to a 500 mil ship (price check!)
Cruises with a bunch of ballistic controls works. Torps you might have to fly around a bit. Then there's the PAWNAGE that would be required fitting for Torps I would think.
PvP I will not comment except a CNR not as silly as T3 to fly I guess and Ravens are usually eaten for breakfast. Rokh tank >>> Raven tank. Feel free to try and prove me wrong.

Some ratters still fly Torp Ravens. They tend to have max missile support skills, T2 torp launchers, and bookmarks for typical spawn locations in individual belts. Some also extend their range with rigs.
I can't imagine fitting Torps for a complex or mission, though.

I like this guys fit from another thread:
Originally by: Col Angus The problem is that you are using torps. By the time the rats are in torp range, a cruise CNR will have already cleard nearly 1/3 of the room. CNR does out damage the Golem, but the Golem is better for loot/salvage....I still fly the CNR though.

Some folks say to fit Rigor rigs, but I'm already killing BC and Cruiser spawns in 2-3 volleys. So this works for me.

Mate, what the hell happened to your EFT?! Cladari?
Anyhoo, torps are pretty much the domain of PvP ships, eg Ravens, and PvE Golems. I, or rather my main, have found that you would be better served fitting cruise launchers to a CNR.
It is unfortunate that the time spent training for cruises will essentially be of little to no use in PvP, but you get that.
