Hi,
Yesterday I finsihed my first L4 Blockade against Sanshas - woot:). Loot and salvage was crap though.
With my mediocre skills it took me quite a while to complete the mission but the most troublesome were the elite cruisers that used tracking disruption. I used beam weapons so I was sniping at 80-90 km away and still they could disrupt most of the time. So my question is what is the best method against these pesky disrupters: 1) pulses? 2) painter? 3) tracking computer? 4) something else?

Longer range crystals helps me a lot, to be honest. I got an alt in a Guardian doing my repairing, so that helps a lot. But when fitted with MF's and then disrupted, I can't hit. So I put in Infrared instead and that helps a lot. The main issue with disruptor's is not the tracking reduction, but the opt range reduction. You can pretty much offset the tracking loss with a couple of tracking computers or parallel flying (fly in same direction as the rat).

Loot varies depending on the type of mission. (once you run it a few times you'll see variations in BS/ewar etc)
Boost your optimal range and use longer range crystals and you won't have a problem. (I use microwave and can hit anything on the field no matter how disrupted)
If you are lacking skills/isk, the ships all come close at a reasonable rate, so simply kill the trigger BS earlier than normal. Then you can finish off the remaining BS from the previos wave which should be close enough for you to hit, while allowing the elite cruisers to get closer and into your disrupted range.
It goes without saying though, make the ships causing you grief primary the moment you can :)
I suppose this must be my sig. I'll do something cool with it eventually. |

This mission is notorious for the insane tracking disruption in the second wave. You can get up to 10-12 elite frigs/cruisers which will all tracking disrupt you. I belive a personal record was something like 7 tracking disruptors at the same time.
As previously mentioned, solutions include longer range crystals (Pulse won't help since they will have an optimal of about 5km with that much EWAR), tracking computers/enhancers and clever manouvering, but having decent drone skills and a set of hammerhead II's will help a great deal.

I thought they actually dirsupt the tracking speed and not the optimal range. Will take this into account, thanks guys!

yeah, next time it happens to yah, do a show info on your guns amd note your opt range while disrupted.

This mission is annoying. The only way as amarr to do this mission relativly quickly, is fitting 2 good tracking computers with tracking scripts and use a long range crystal. Or get a paladin with a TS webber, most of the cruisers get within webbing range and theyre easy to hit then. Sniping 100km+ is an option, but thats slow.

You knew the answer before you asked the question:
CNR
(Failing that, microwaves in tachyons are ok provided you minimize transversal.)

Works perfectly on blockade : 20 - 25 mins /yea, depends how much td you get/. Tracking is not the issue most of the time because td cruisers are far from you, but they can lower your optimal to less than 10km, so use long range crystals /and drones/ and kill td cruisers first. Then switch to mf and clear rest.

Lows are perfect, get rid of cap recharger in mids: replace with cap booster. Get rid of CCC rigs, replace with t2 Locus or Aerator, (I prefer locus as it's more bouns than a TE, and the aerator will cause 3rd+ heatsink to be heavily stacking nerfed) and t2 em/therm screens. Change hardeners to 2x invul, 1x mission specific. |

Why ffs would i do that?
Originally by: Petyr Baelich ...get rid of cap recharger in mids: replace with cap booster.
I hate messing with cap boosters. Ccc rigs and 1 cr is all i need for blockade.

... and locus will cause same to tracking enhancers and tracking computers.
What you described here is setup designed specifically to do l4 sansha blockade, but i run other missions with this ship too .

when u got more iskies try a setup with small or medium deadspace shield boosters and amplifiers. then you won't have any cap problems (even without rigs, depending which deadspace stuff u use) and the tank won't suffer much either.

Good way to get yourself suicide ganked. And it doesnt improve your killing speed so its completely useless.

I actually do use Raven class battleship instead of Nightmare in this mission. So the suggestion you fixsed with that (ie using CNR) was quite reasonable for that particular mission. Ofc one can do it in Nightmare also, it's just slightly slower than using missile ship. The difference is not THAT stellar ofc, but it's there.
For the OP (as it does not seem that he can comfortably use Ravenkind and missiles) - Use a bit longer range ammo and if possible compensate a bit with tracking computers, enchancers.
