This, though I don't necessarily like the idea of more NPCs in plexes.

Edited by: Mr Cleann on 09/01/2010 12:17:51 The mission development team needs you working for them. That is an outstanding idea for a series of mission types. I been playing for close to 4 years and only encountered two people that needed help and they were in null sec trying to keep from being popped by a pirate lol. I managed to get them a safe spot to warp to after I placing a great deal of trust as it could have been an ambush too. Once they met up with me I used my co op to let them know when the gate was clear for them to warp out. I also had to make the bm's so they could land on the gate and escape as back then we didnt have that warp to zero option. This idea has a lot of posibilities. I hope ccp is reading this thread and seriously consideres it. It would make a fine addition to the game. /Signed

/signed I just dont like the idea that the mission should be done in a special wh or other pseudo-instanced solutions, its just go against the eve workings. A solution for the competitive missions would be to tweak the code used for FW so it can be able to create temporary microfactions, the players just need to chose which faction they want to join when accepting the mission (as its done with epic mission) and after jumping the acceleration gate to his faction mission-entry point he will be added to the faction so he can shot any member of the opposite faction without concord reprisal or standing losses.
As everything its in regular k-space anybody not in the mission can probe down the players as if they were doing any regular mission - it's not an instance. they just wont be affiliated with any of the two factions so no free kills, they just have to use regular mission-griefing tactics if they want to interfere (or hope that somebody's using smartbombs...).

This is a very interesting idea because it will add randomness to the experience, making travel and missionning less scripted.
Implementation could be quite simple: (although I like the idea of micro FW to handle which side you take).
Whenever you are flying into a system (this is system or constellation wide), an agent of a corporation (with whom you have some standing) could contact you" Glad you are here, just received a distress signal from one of our guy, go and help the convoy/ship/miner in trouble. transmission was garbled, the true ennemy's strength is unknown, you have 10 minutes to reach the location, bonus would be 10% of the cargo transported (value unknown)
or more immersive if one is allowed to broadcast a SOS

Excellent idea for making the PVE experience more dynamic (CCP must find a way to generate the NPCs randomly do there's no simple solution like checking EVE-Survival for the right ship/fitting/strategy).
In low-sec this could be what the dedicated PVP players are looking for in terms of finding those "good fights" they are always saying they want. Pirate gangs vs anti-pirate gangs in a dynamic environment. If interesting fights against skilled opponents are actually what they want, ...
But no on the idea of making it enable PVP in high-sec because it would turn these mission spaces into little pieces of low-sec with all the issues involved therein -- mainly the unwillingness of PVE players to foolishly put their noses into a place certain to be inhabited by gangs of PVP players looking for easy kills.

Not a mission runner but this is still a great idea for the mission people.
Do it up CCP!

As this could be an excellent tool to increase role playing by seeding actual role playing encounters, I am a big fan of the potential of this idea.
Some ideas that could be included.
- The beacons should definately be a publicly available via overview. - Entering the deadspace is consensual so there should be 0 sec hits for the combat in high or low sec & all in one big bowl (this may be excessive but definately decrease the typical hits in respective security systems. - Security increases for the corp/alliances that are involved. - Standing hits for opposing corp/faction. - Standing does not deny you from assisting corp/faction you have low standing with. - Scale standing increases with current standing and/or system security rating. So if you are really low with say Sansha, you can start helping them, but the standing increases are not great to begin with, but increase with each instance of assistance.

Along a similar vein.
Occasionally npcs should attack a station. Distress call goes out to let everyone know about the attack. Perhaps in the case of a massive attack all players with an interest in that station (ie corp office) gets an email notifying them of the upcomming attack.
If the players are successful in driving them off, isk and candy for all.
If the players are unsuccessful, the price of services goes up, (as does the price of masking tape and glue due to the repairs).
Perhaps even more exciting. A successful drone attack results in them infesting the station. Once this is achieved they spawn new drones that over time will attempt to infest the rest of the systems stations.
Could you imagine the chaos? Especially if corps you are currently not on good term with show up at the same time as the NPCs.

The only NPCs worth a damn to go attacking a station would be......
Sleepers!!!!!!
Who says they could never follow us out of a WH system?

How about broadcasting the distress call to ships in the system capable of handling the situation immediately? Stuck in a powerless ship falling into a planet? Call for ships with a tractor in a high slot. Many people need rescuing? Only ships with 1500m3 or more cargo space get the message. Need to shoot NPC's? Look for high slot weapons.
