Conditions: I jump thru a gate in Gulmorogod (0.4) and see a Punisher sitting on the gate. I entice him into engaging by locking him, but NOT agressing.
1. I wait til he agresses, I've taken damage and he is blinky red to me. 2. I engage and kill him without incident. 3. I feel obligated to take his pod which I do. 4. Immediately after killing his pod I start to take dmg, I thought maybe another ship was shooting me but after checking the km that wasn't the case.
Needless to say Concord killed my under armoured Rifter. I'm sure killing the pod is what triggered Concord to stick their nose in my business. Shouldn't the ship and the pod both be red to me? That's not how it seems. I'm not to concerned about the ship and mods I just hate getting a loss km when I thought I was in the clear.

It's because it is: 1 - Lowsec and not 0.0, there are sentry guns. 2 - Ships and pods are 'different ships', if you know what I mean.
...
How can you explain it? Sentry guns don't like podding.

Different ship same pilot, do guns kill or do people who pull the trigger? Afterall it was the pilot who attacked me not the ship. Unless ofc there's some kind of auto pvp setting I'm unaware of.

Very clear in many of the warning screens etc. that even when you are allowed to shoot someones ship, without a war dec you can never pod someone outside your corp in low- or high-sec. -------------------------------------------------

I guess I'm trying to make some sense out of an internet space game which in all likelihood is an exercise in futility.
I can only assume that once a player is killed he/she all of a sudden becomes neutral, unless ofc they are outlaw. In other words a sec before you died I was allowed to legally engage you, but once I killed your ship your slate was wiped clean and any past transgressions were forgiven, at least from Concord's perspective. The rule is 'no podding'. Podding is always bad. Its not that that person is innocent or has had their slate wiped clean by getting blown up... podding is just always bad and you're not 'allowed' to do it and if you do it the sentrys will shoot you. If they come back in another ship before the 15 minute aggro timer goes away you can shoot them again. The only exception is if you're podding an outlaw, that is allowed.
Also there is no Concord in lowsec. The things that shoot at you in lowsec are the sentry guns and they belong to whoever has sov over that system. You can still get a global criminal timer though so if you do get that bright red timer don't go jumping into hi-sec, else Concord will be happy to punish you for what you did in lowsec.

Pod killing someone is the ultimate crime, and it's always illegal unless the person is in your corp, at war with you or an outlaw (-5.0 sec status). The ship aggro is not reset upon destruction, empire laws just don't allow you to kill his pod. If he returns in a new ship within 15 minutes you can still kill him

Thanks for the responses, I stand corrected.
Will no longer take a pod in front of the sentries, I thought the sentry guns were concord, guess I was wrong on that point as well. PvP starter toon for sale

i'm guessing it's along the lines of the rule in war that shooting down jets is ok shooting down parachutes isn't.

Well put
Also, it probably worth saying that POD killing is probably the fastest way to get yourself flashie red to everyone. (Not a bad or good thing, just saying)
ALso, does any know for sure, but the person the OP podded has one mths "Kill rights" on the OP, or not? Im not too clear how this works. so, Does he have kill rights? Is he free to attack lots of times?

Actually the sec hit was the only good thing to come out of it, took me to -8, going for -10.
As for kill rights I have no idea, I guess I could shoot him a msg and find out.
Unless ofc he'd like to respond in C&P.

Every time I read the title of this thread I think its just a ploy to get the idea of concord in lowsec in to peoples heads...
