I was doing a salvage run around the Caldari Titan in Luminaire. I must not have been being too much attention, because as I was salvaging some wrecks, I get jumped by the few remaining frigates. I tried to warp out, but as luck would have it, I wasn't quick enough and lost my salvage frigate. No problem I thought, I'll just go and get my Salvaging Cane and salvage my wreck. When I got there, someone had not only salvaged it, but looted it as well. Fine I think, I make a quick check of the target, and see that they are in a NPC corp for 6 days and think, ah a new pilot, but I didn't notice the long list of corps. I go and get my Ishkur of Doom and go looking for a fight. Now I'll admit I'm quite a bit of a carebear, but I'm bored and need a fight. Once I get to the titan, the target is in an interceptor, and I think, a noob in an interceptor, so I check and notice the pilot is 2 months older then me, hell I think, I'm engaging. After the timer expires, I think about giving up and calling it a night.
But as I am bored, I decide to stick it out and flip a few of his cans. Well, after a few minutes of this, it works. I'm just close to engage, so I lock them up and send in my warrior IIs. I get him to 50% shields and he warps out. I didn't think to fit a scram or web. I then warp to Luminaire VII - Moon 6 and there he is in a thorax, I think for a split second and say "screw it", I'm engaging. I lock him up, throw out my hob IIs and close to 1500m, he webs and scrams me, no problem I think as he's shields are down, but so are mine. Then I remember the SAR II, turn it on, and now only his armour is dropping. I'm tanking everything very well as his guns and hammer Is are just scratching the paint. Then I notice to my horror that my cap is down to about 30% and his armour is not dropping as fast as I would like. Then I realize that my cap is stable and now I have him in structure and I'm still at 100% armour. One he realizes those two little facts; he warps out, and is out of the system. I'm now left with a pounding heart, an Adrenaline rush the likes of which I havenĘt felt in a while, and I'm thinking I just not only survived that, but I enjoyed the hell out of it. Yes, I lost a few million ish from my first lost, but I think it was well worth it.

Well, you made a bunch of noob mistakes, and lost a ship, and failed to kill your target Bummer
All the same, it sounds to me as if you've just experienced the same thing that happens to many of us who started out in various forms of carebearing... the moment where you discover that PVP is way the heck more fun than just about anything else in the game. The moment where you discover that this is one of the few games out that can leave you with the shakes and a major adrenaline rush after an awesome battle. Welcome to the club.

Sounds like he enjoyed it a heap load more than the veterans do. In the same way that a kitten enjoys that first snowfall a lot more than my 15 year old car does.

I realize that I made several mistakes, and things could have gone south for me, but the point is that I enjoyed it. I've been looking for a fight for a while, found it, and now i'm hooked. Now I have a reason to enjoy EVE again.
I'll take this fight as a learning experience and next time have a point and web fitted. TBH, I totally did not expect to do any damage or survive. I did it because I was on an adrenaline rush and it was fun. Surrender is still your slightly less painful option. |

Props for having a go and it sounds like you learned a lot from your experience, I hope to hear a more successful story in the future! Most important thing to realise is pvp doesn't have to cost a lot and dont be afraid to lose quite a few ships in order to eventually get a good fight.
This is why I fly frigs... cheap fast exciting pvp! ---- LOL @ U Lady Spank |

To the people breaking the chops of the OP:
Is this not the PVP you wanted? All the Vagisil getting consumed on these forums over carebears not wanting a fight, if you have a problem with the outcome, offer some constructive advice.

Pretty good story, horrible formatting. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen. |

Fit a warp scrambler, then they can't run away.
(unless they have warp stabs)
Bah, OP already posted that, which makes that unconstructive advice.
