I've had the same debit card for 2 years, I've used it to pay for WoW, Age of Conan, Lord of the Rings Online, and countless things off of Amazon, yet EVE won't accept it. When i put all the details in and hit next, it simply says "Error - cannot authorize".

Are you or your ISP using a proxy or anonimizer? Those have to be disabled if you want to use a credit/debit card on this website.

So just use IE this one and only time. What could possibly happen? ______________ Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn. |

Edited by: Storm Templar on 21/07/2009 17:16:32 ^^ Just add card to paypal. buy stuffs on eBay with said paypal account, pay for EVE with said paypal account, buy 60d GTC with said paypal account. buy isk with said paypal account, get a huge negative virtual wallet or banned because of said paypal account, wife dont get no satisfaction cause of said paypal account.
Oh the possibilities are endless once you've got your hands onto a paypal account. Don't be like me, out of a mortgage and playing EVE from internet cafes (not that bad but you get me?)

I hate paypal. Takes 12 days for any transaction to go through the 5 or 6 times i used it. The card didn't work with IE either, yet i bought a book from Amazon with it yesterday and it worked just dandy.
If it won't go through i'll just let the time run out and not buy more, i enjoy EVE but i won't go out of my way to get some time because a card that works with everything else on the internet won't work on this.

I've the same problem. My credit card works with everyone but EVE.
I made several petitions but nothing came of it. I gave up and got a GTC. Then the paypal interface came back up and I started using that. Haven't had any problems since I started using paypal, except that auto-renew won't work. --

No it isn't. I use a debit card, so what i need to do is put the money in my bank account, transfer it from the bank account into the paypal account via the paypal website, and that transaction takes anywhere from 7-12 days. After 12 days when the money is in the bank account then payment is instant when using paypal, but the transfer takes 12 days.

Two cards from two different banks would not work. Talked to banks, starting 7/1/2009 they have suspended all international transactions. Eve bills to England so it was not allowed to complete. Something new some banks are doing. Had to go with PayPal.

Which is a bank card (your own funds not credit) with a VISA/MasterCard logo? Correct?
I understand you have to place cash on the card but once it is you do not have to trans it into your paypal account.
You link the CARD to paypal and when you do a trans paypal automaticly deducts $$ from the debit card and pays whomever you requested to be paid.
^^ Instant :) This is how i do it and it is instant. The reason it is taking you longer is you dont have the card linked in paypal and thus have to manually put $$ in your paypal account.

Sorry, Paypal is everything but instant. Yes, instantly they send a request to the bank to verify the funds are there, but they do not actually BILL the bank for often several business days.
Basically what happens with paypal. 1. Paypall submits authorization. 2. Bank updates your balance instantly. 3. Paypal takes their time batching your charge. 4. Bank after waiting several days with no bill re-updates available funds to NOT SHOW the paypal transaction. 5. Paypal finally batches transaction and bills bank. Bank re-updates available funds again, but if the customer checked their available funds between step 4 and 5 then they will be surprised when their available funds drop when they should have updated before. --

Edited by: DavesTheName on 22/07/2009 02:56:09 And that's why i don't use paypal, i use my bank account very frequntly, and if, after 5 days, paypal hasn't taken the money from my bank and i take it from my bank, assuming it has already been taken and the balance shown is my balance after paypal has done its thing, then the transaction won't go through at all or i will go overdrawn, which carries a ú60 bank fee ($100).
So either they will answer my petition and fix whatever the problem is with this website (because the problem is definitely not on my end) or lose a customer, which would be a shame, because i really enjoy this game.

Well gee, i just transferred the money from my account to my mothers account and tried to pay with her card, a debit card also, no balls. I tried with my uncles CREDIT card, no comprende.
What the hell CCP? What on earth is the point of putting the option to pay with credit and debit cards when you're simply going to refuse each and every one!?
It's like you don't want my money... I'm itching to give you 14.95 Euros and you don't want them!

CCP only accept very specific cards. It's all well and good reading "Debit/Credit Card", but you need to ensure it's a Visa/MasterCard/American Express/JCB/Carte Bleue or one of their other accepted ones.
For example, Europe's Maestro cards are not accepted. -----------
As for PayPal, the money doesn't get handled instantly but in the case of buying a GTC off somewhere like BattleClinic. It'll take around 10 minutes from PayPal agreeing the payment to you getting the GTC code. The money will then be deducted from your account in about 5 working days (I usually keep a log of my online spending on a sheet so I get no surprises from forgetting about a subscription I did) -----------
Finally, have you had a look at the 'PayByCash' option on the payment methods. It's a site that'll act like a third party service (you pay them, they pay CCP). They take quite a few payment options, including a number of European card types. (had to use this method myself for a while as I had a Maestro).

All the cards i used were listed in the drop down menus on the pay screen, such as visa electron, mastercard.

Edited by: Devine13 on 22/07/2009 18:23:58 I have always paid for EVE using the PayByCash option.
It will run you through how to do an online funds transfer using your bank's online website (assuming that your bank provides online banking and is accepted by PayByCash).
This method has worked for me every time, and although it does put a small service charge on your payment, it isn't too much to really worry about.
EDIT: It does not charge you an extra $6 as the service charge. For me, it has been at most $1.50 (CAN)
