I know this may be a common question, but is there any way to redistribute skill points? Sorry if there is a thread on this subject already, but I couldn't find one. I made a mistake on my char by grabbing a butt-ton of skills and training them to lvl 3, now that I'm wanting to take the REALLY important skills to 5 I'm losing my 100% bonus. Is there ANY way to redistribute the points after I have already trained, or did I screw myself??

Afraid you screwed yourself, there is no way to move skillpoints around.
Originally by: Allisie In a recent interview, a dev mentioned that ships and skills cause lag and will be removed in EVE 2.

Don't worry, you will probably use them at some point. Unless of course you quit playing. ---------- This post brought to you by the worst PVP'er in Eve |

You cannot move skillpoints after you train them.
However, you did not screw yourself.
It takes about 5 times as many skillpoints to take a skill to level 5 as it did for level 4. It takes about 5 times as many skillpoints to take a skill to level 4 as it did for level 3.
So in the same amount of time it takes to train one skill to level 5, you can train about 25 same-rank skills to level 3.
25 skills all giving small incremental benefits is much better than one skill giving a slightly larger benefit. So you did well.
You mentioned loosing double training speed, so you must be one or two months old. In my opinion, pilots at your age shouldn't train anything to 5 unless it is a prerequisite for something else you need.

Its not too late to start a new character , but as Shoog said , those trainings are not wasted , and you got a lot of SP for the buck . 100% bonus is just as good on skill A or skill B in the long run . And btw, its common for new players to get a new point of view on whats important early. Its a good sign actually, It means your learning what you REALLY want .

Just spend some time learning the Learning Skills, then focus on what you have decided you want to do. True it would have been more effective to spend your initial time of 100% bonus speed on skills you plan to use, but its not exactly "wasted", and they are going to be with you forever and may help you someday down the road.
Your Caldari I see, and perhaps you like combat? If so get some learning skills, get some missile skills, and start working towards flying a Caracal and then a Drake and you should be good to go buddy.

I make it a point to train most things to level 2 or 3. This gives you 40-60% of max while putting virtually no SP into it. You didn't waste SP, as the explaination in the first post was correct. |
