Edited by: Gabriel Rike on 01/08/2009 02:53:19 I was the fc for this fight on the moms side. (I am also Veronica Sarro)
I would like to thank everyone that came out, both to kill us and to help us. The minmitar militia actually responded first lol which I thought was rather funny. One of our mothership guys was recording the fight and got over 100gb of footage froms tart to finish from us jumping in, to us dying. It was truely epic.
A little insight on to this fight.
Every member of Channel 4 News Team knows each other irl. Infact we knew each other out of game before we knew of each other ingame, and have been together all this time. We decided to form our corporation to avoid all the polotics of major alliances and to simply have fun. We have done several outrageous ops in the past from dread fights that were made to fight bs's (that was another epic fight as well, though not nearly to this scale) to super crazy mining ops, all for no other reason than to say we can and did.
This fight was something we always talked about doing. One of those 'it will never happen but would be awesome' kinda things. infact we had every detail planned out and had many of the skills to do it among our oldest players, but just not the funding. Then on October 31 of last year, Ryan Fisher, or as he was known in game Flying Fish(one of the nyx's) and Firemarshal Bill (one of the wyv's) died in a motorcycle accident. It was after the funeral we all decided then and there, this wouldnt be a 'never gonna happen' dream, we were going to make it happen!
so we all started training for crucial roles in the op, and getting enough moms to do the job. Since we were in FW when it happened, we decided to join them for the big op as well. so it would show that we did this without any major alliance help, without any outside influence. The entire fleet that showed up was all as a response from people that knew him in game or out. (and the very few militia guys that actually got out there) We had hoped for more but expected none. It was truely Epic guys. Operation: Gone Fishing.... was a total success as we planned to loose everyone of them spartan death style!
Thanks again for the fight we didnt have to wait long to see it happen! (though damn desync hit every one of us in the mom fleet the moment the dreads jumped in or we would have gave you a better run for your money lol!!, maybe next time!)

Certainly wasn't just CH kills though.
Large group of Advocated Destruction there, quite a few Laconian Syndicate and Beyond Divinity.
Would have had Huzzah and another group there but apparently we fumbled the midpoint cyno for them (doh).

That part was for the people who tossed their motherships out the window. They'd done the militia a better service leaving before they got owned. As I read it it was no epic fight, just a onesided slaughter and as such not much to write home about.

i think i read something about this in C&P didn't i?, in any case, while under any concept in this game doing think kind of thing can only be considered as idiotic (fiiinish reading!). but then again its your ships, your money, do whatever you want for it. all i can say is thanks for the chance and i hope you feel your cause was fulfilled.

Actually, had the Mom's been better fit with a smattering of neuts/ECM bursts about them they could have rapidly sweapt the tackle, got the majority of them to stand off range, 150km ish, where the Dreads would be doing crap DPS, dumped fighters, popped a few dreads, warped out before our siege was up with cigars in mouth and some vOv's in local. I personally was expecting only to get one or two at most, knowing how hard it is to lock down a Mom in lowsec, let alone 8 Keep in mind the world and his wife would have been mobilising their assets to get in on it as well, we narrowly escaped an NC hotdrop (by pure virtue of their cyno not having any fuel) among others, so it could well have escalated to an even larger battle.
Props for doing it Channel 4.

If they didn't much care to win the thing to commemorate their friend they should've made sure every major player knew something was up around that time in Tama and we might just have seen the biggest cluster**** in the history of EVE, for the same price.

I'm not like you who just revel in ships killed, I see if from both ends and I hate to see bad losses.
It's also still night and I got work in little over and hour, no I don't sleep, I rest. Possibly affecting my already low tolerance for waste.

Ignore him, his inferiority complex comes out by critiquing others actions. We were a few hundred ozone away from a messy three way (belated). Not sure how quick we were from scouting to hotdrop, but I think we were relatively quick which probably saved our bacon and the need for me to make HMS Sallyforth Mk IV

You probably should have a disclaimer up top saying only backpatters next time.
I am not impressed, I think it was a waste of resources but it's their call how to toss it away. As LT himself stated, had they known how to fight it may have been something else, I just don't see what's epic about it.

Im not sure how you can call engaging 8 motherships and a support fleet, shooting fish in a barrel. Most people **** their pants at the sight of one super cap.
The hot drop took some organising no doubt, along with one personal hictor for each mom, thats a pretty well pulled off drop.
The bydi/cryhavoc/invicta/laconian's pulled off one of their specials, gg and the milita appear to have honoured a rl friend in true style.
I also take personal offence to your suggestion that FW caps are somehow weaker targets than what? 0.0? nebula rasa?

Who are you to talk about clues? First you say people would crap their pants seeing one mothership and support then you profess to knowing it's what Cry Havoc do. Why would they then **** their pants when it's them doing what they do and know how to do? Choose a leg and stand on it.
Yes FW caps suggests a weaker opponent as the guys throwing them away themselves admitted, they joined FW for the explicit purpose of showing themselves weak to get a fight. FW fleets really doesn't have capitals to match Cry Havoc, let alone them and friends.
Whoever said Rasa was interested in Caps Online?

The guys actually put their capitals at risk, and almost got hotdropped by NC who probably had a lot bigger cap fleet. How would you react to 8 MS on a gate near you, and what would you bring to try kill them and have a shot at breaking a record in EVE?
Oh and Cry Havoc is not = most people
