Ok, I will start this by saying today I had a major day of fail. Now that is out in the open I can get to my question.
Scenario: High-sec, Medium pos. Offline with all mods anchored around it obviously offline.
My alts and I are pounding this thing for a couple hours. It is down to armor now. There is a sliver of shield, but a lot of armor bleedthrough.
WT comes online, warps to pos and ninja onlines the pos. (I thought you couldn't online it once the armor was touched.)
My alts and I are thrown out of the forcefield. WT then comes back, onlines the guns and shield hugs the pos in his ishtar (inflicting no loses, but annoying)
WT has a bunch of friends come and start repping the guns I started to incap.
I abandon assault, obviously the plan has failed.
Can someone tell me why the pos was allowed to come online in the first place, why the WT was able to refuel it when it had no shield, and how he was able to online the guns?

Not sure on the onlining or the refuel. Guns however can be banging away at you as long as the POS is alive.

Yes I know that guns still work, thats why I was trying to incap them before they onlined. I also know that you can online laser batts because they use no CPU. But to allow someone to online a pos while its been offline, empty after its hit armor should be wrong.

One of the best things about EVE is that I learn something new almost every day. You just learnt something about POS mechanics and can use that to your advantage at a later date.

POS can be online reguardless of how damaged they are. If there is stront in the tower @ 25% shields it will go into reinforced. But I'm guessing it either didn't have any or it was beyond the point in which it kicks in. Either way, it sucks to be you but they didn't do anything wrong.
I call 'Bull****' CCP. Isn't it great that the alchemy process was introduced & can 'take up the slack?' |

The tower did not go into reinforced when the shield went below 25% because it had no fuel. Also, offline towers do not go into reinforced.

It is apparently an exploit for neutrals to rep a POS in highsec during a wardec due to weird mechanics, or something. Anyways, fire off an exploit petition to get rid of the reppers, then have fun with the POS. I'm not sure what is done to the mods the reppers have repped.

It used to be an exploit back when you didn't get flagged. Now neutrals repping the POS should be flagged, if they're not THEN it's an exploit.
POS can come online at any stage, but it won't go into reinforced if it's below 25% shield.

Curious what prompted the OP to attack an offline tower in high-sec... Bored, thought it would be a quick kill, etc? How many of the other ships/reppers did you kill (since you were at war) before running? Or were you just hoping for an unnoticed station kill?

Incorrect. I ninja'd a moon once, ninja fueled and onlined the POS. As soon as it came online it went into RF mode at 38% structure.
The situation the OP is describing, the tower in question obviously didn't have any stront in, nor would he have been able to add any if the shields were below 50%.

Some of the nicer (edit: high sec) systems to place POSes in have pretty much every moon occupied. Occasionally one of these towers occupying a moon will go offline. If you're waiting to put up a tower in that system, that's the best chance for a smaller corp to war dec the POS-owning corp and take their tower out.
