Hi folks!
I have been studying on a good Ishtar solo pvp setup mainly for W-space purposes and maybe some lowsec fights in belts/mission sites. I'll be using a 2nd account for probing targets in a covert ops. Oh, and I cant use T2 Ogres yet.
I did a search and found several setups, but none of them really stunned me. Since the nano-ishtar is no more, I was thinking of 2 setups in particular, both having disadvantages:
1. Buffer ishtar:
lows 1x 1600 RT plates 1x DCU2 1x expl hardener2 2x EANM2
mids 1x AB2 1x X5 web 1x scram2 1x sensor booster2 1x balmer series TD
highs 1x 50W medium neut 1x prototype cloak 3x light neutron blaster2 with null ammo (mainly for killing enemy drones)
rigs 2x trimark I
Drones 5x garde2 10x warrior2 10x hob2 10x hammer2
Strategy: Warp in close with cov ops combo, getting in close orbit, web/scram/TD. Hopefully incoming dps will be lowered this way while my drones work on the target. Disadvantage: I need to get close, vulnerable to web/scram/neut. Also no active repper.
2. Long range Ishtar
lows 1x overdrive 2 1x nanofiber 2 1x centii-C SAR 1x armor hardener2 1x +24% cap recharge mod (forgot the name)
mids 1x mwd2 1x warp disruptor2 1x balmer series TD 1x sensor booster2 1x cap recharger2
highs 1x 50W medium neut 1x prototype cloak 3x light neutron blaster 2 (again anti-drone/fast tackler together with neut)
rigs 2x polycarbon I
Drones 5x Garde2 10x hammer2 10x warrior2 10x hob2
Strategy: fast orbit (well...1900 m/s) outside web/scram range. TD and speed to limit incoming dps. Easier to get out once things turn out bad. Disadvantages: crappy tank (am i going fast enough to reduce incoming dps??, no real grip on the target to keep it inside sentry drone range.
Well, as you can see iam not a setup expert, so some tips and advice are very much appreciated. What setup you think is most viable in W-space? Thx!

People seem to forget a very important thing about wormhole space. Sleepers shoot at everyone. This means you need to tank sleeper damage as well. C1-wh: 200ish dps, no big deal. C2: 350-400 C3: 600+ Thats incoming damage from rats only. Not to mention that if you ever find anyone soloing there it most likely be a Drake with at least 800 dps passive tank. I`ve never seen any other ship soloing there. Stick to low sec I`d say.

people seem to forget a very important thing about covert ops cloak. you can wait hidden for the best opportunity to strike, like right after the last rat is killed

Yes, you`ll waste hours of your time searching and waiting with 2 accounts, just to come on top victorious holding someone`s invul II in your hands. How exciting.

You noobs need to learn to recognize W-space for what it is: A PVE ground that happens to be in 0.0 space. I keep seeing PVP players trying to apply the play style they are familiar with in W-space, just to fail misserably and waste their time. W-space is not lowsec or 0.0. Different rules apply. Different play style is needed.

The fun is in the hunt, not the result .

Thx for all replies! I have been killing inside WH's for a while, mostly with a friend or solo. So iam aware not to attack with 3 sleeper BS's around . However, I was hoping for some more feedback on my setups and if you have better options, pls share your setup.

There must be some EFT warriors that can do better? Or maybe even someone who actually flew the ship...
