First I am not and have never been in any corporation nor have I invited or accepted any other players to join fleet...
Have been playing for more than a year but this morning I was in for a nasty surprise. When logging on to my two accounts to play I found both characters in shuttles..I was thinking what the f**k is going on....and items, ships and money were almost completely gone! Checking my Wallet I found out that ships and items belonging to the characters had been sold during a couple of hours in the night when I was logged out and the PC was shut down...after selling most items and ships the money had been player donated.
The transactions says " Player has deposited into Banking code¦s account" or something close!! Same thing happened simultaniously with both my accounts.
I have sent petitions but would like to know if someone has experienced the same thing and how this could happen.
Anyone?

if this is a real question and not a troll, sounds like you have had your account hacked, you cant get scammed when offline.
you will need to gm's to get back to you so you can get your things / isk back

Edited by: DonDrakos on 05/08/2009 08:28:12 I hope you changed ur password after this ! Rule of thumb is dont share accounts info with anyone, dont use the same user/pass from eve to register on sites, passwords like 12345 are not that hard to crack and so on.
Buy a reliable antivirus asap
best of luck m8 recovering ur isk and items

Unfortunately (for me) this is a real question. And I did send petitions, only wanted to check if it has happened to someone else to try to understand how it could happen. Can not understand how someone could have hacked my accounts? I use evemon and the Eve skillwatch gadget but they use limited API keys.
Thank you!

bad troll
either: - you shared your account info
- your account info was brute forced (which is usually easily guessed)
- you downloaded and installed a keylogger

In that case you downloaded a keylogger, If you haven't done anything to get rid of it changing your passwords won't help you as your stuff will still be at risk once CCP has gotten you your stuff back.
I would suggest you do whatever is necessary to get rid of it (even if it ends up taking a complete reformat to do so) and changing passwords again AFTER doing so, If not, Expect your stuff to disappear again.

Tips for the future:
1) Allowing apps that you don't know what they are gonna do to install is generally a bad idea.
2) Using Internet Explorer makes baby jesus cry.
3) Make sure you are running some sort of script blocker, it really helps. If you use firefox I highly recommend NoScript and Add Block Plus
4) Make sure you have an up-to-date malware/addware detection software like Spybot or Add-Aware that scans frequently.
5) Make sure your anti-virus software is up to date. Also recommend against using Symmantec or MacAfee as they are both way too well known and easily trumped. There are loads of free options out there that do just as good, and usually better, job. AVG, Avast, etc.

You can still get around noscript by infecting a website that is whitelisted then loading a bad page via xss from that site, which will bypass noscript.
The only way IE users would have gotten infected from those sites is if they actually installed the keylogger which presented itself as a flash player update, and the user would have had to actually click "open" when presented with the download dialog. Of course if you have all security in IE turned off, I suppose it's possible that it would have happened without user interaction, but I didn't test those pages with security turned off or reduced to minimal.
IE is actually just as secure (and more customizable in regards to scripts) than firefox, but unless you know what you're doing you'll prolly **** it up.
Firefox + noscript is far from invulnerable. Try reading this site a bit http://www.uscert.gov and you'll see just how "secure" firefox (or any other browser/os) is.

Agreed. If you changed your password on the same PC, chances are, "they" already have the new one. Either find and get rid of the keylogger, then change your password, or change it from another machine and don't log in on the infected one until you're sure the keylogger has been removed. --Vel

Uninstall eve online client and delete the folders left over in program files and my documents. There is one form of the keylogger that hides in the eve online install folder. Then get an antivirus(new update to date one) and scan down the entire system. Then reinstall eve :P You will want to make sure the GMs get the petitions right. They will track down the isk/items and return them and ban the receiving accounts.

I don't know the specifics of the keylogger being spammed on the boards, but many viruses will alter the mbr to prevent it's files from being "seen" by the OS, even if you drop the drive and scan it in a different computer.
Your safest bet is to redo your system and reinstall, change your password either from a different computer or the newly redone machine. Have CCP lock your account for now or change the password for you if it's not an option atm, and don't log into the forums until you have your password changed.

Apparently analysis elsewhere on the board shows it to be something that's deliberately targeted at harvesting Eve ac as opposed to "generic keylogger account stealer".

Ok you have a keylogger that you got when looking at those naughty pictures. Apparently http://housecall.trendmicro.com will pick it up and clean it although its possible there are other packages that will detects and clean it. If you change your password dont change it on the affected computer and certianly dont login to eve again from the affected computer otherwise the isk farmers who control the keylogger will get your new pass straight away.

Well, do not open those images posted in those naked chick threads.
And do not download macros, most of them are just a fake software installing key logger.
1) Keylogger got into your system 2) They logged in, sold everything, refined everything that they couldnt sell, contracted the rest to another stolen character. 3) They sent ISK to another stolen character. 4) After that's done, they usually log in one more time to put your character into biomass.
