magic
As I stated in another post the character sheet is more important for casual players than the "friendly" forums.
Personally I'm more interested in not missing days of skill training, than some third party software action or gimps slagging each other off on these "friendly community" forums.
But then I've a gf making me a cuppa at the moment and I've had a skin full of beer - maybe my priorities in life are wrong...
But maybe I'm just trying to do what the sig says

I may have actually agreed with you if it actually let you change skills but how hard is it to remember when your skill is going to finish?

As I said in the other thread I have other things going on in my life. eve to be fair to many players is pretty far down the food chain. Not drinking my mortgage payments rates a little higher for me.
No you don't need it if its some level game - as you only ding online. When did I start training that level 5 skill? Was it Wednesday night or Thursday night? I know I had to get up in the morning so it wasn't friday night. With my stats was it a 6 or 7 day skill train - I think it was a rank one skill anyway. Speed I loose implants I dunno.
Again as I said before - do I need to log on before I go to the pub or can it wait till I get back. Another one of my thought processes is will I be able to log on and change a skill when I get back from the pub. Some nights thats doubtful.
Hence - no I don't need to refresh it 6 or 7 times a second - but having visablity a couple of times a week is really useful. Especially if I fire up the game I get cuddly girlie turning into hell hath no fury like a woman seeing her man on the pc yet again. And with that gentleman goodnight.

So you just can't see a scrap of paper with a date and time on it as a possible solution in addition to being able to actually make this post without having to devote half an hour for loading it?
I agree the character sheet is comfortable. But the way people seem dependent on it and refuse to see other options is scary...

Forums are working like a charm for me... please keep it that way.
Computer games don't affect children. If PacMan had affected us as kids then we'd all be running around in dark rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music. |

Meehan yeah I could do that but I'd probably loose it... Also its not the way I do things. Some people run their finances on an excel spreadsheet, running insane forumulas.
I go to the cash point/atm and check my balance. I'm also discovering the joys of phone banking. Thats great - stumble of of some pub, and phone up the bank, and they tell if I've got enough money to to go to some cheesy night club. Science and technology doing something fantastic for the ordinary man - magic!
Sure I could write my balance on a scrap of paper...
I'd rather have the functionality to check something briefly at a pivotal moment, rather than carrying around enough random notes so I could make a good sized telephone directory.
You'll be telling me I need a diary next... My boss keeps muttering about that. Organisation *shudder*
I'll agree some are obsessive about the character sheet. I personally think third party software and alarms so you don't miss a second is possibly alittle over the top. Hey - I'm just happy if I get to it within 24 hours. Yes I am a casual player - and so are many others, to us the character sheet is more important than the forums.
I'd rather see its access to the character sheet limited; not see the functionality removed. I do think - the go and make a cuppa while your waiting for a page to load is unacceptable. Don't matter if its the forums or the character sheet.

i always have a good chuckle at the ways some people treat this game, i logged in on day one and as of today only have ~9 million skillpoints...it doesnt really bother me that i've wasted x amount of hours of skill time as the important skills have all been trained, the ones that are left are 'useful' but not essential.

Maybe moving the CPU-intensive applications to a seperate server is an indication the forums should also be seperated?
All I ask is some way of getting the XML data, soon-ish. I just started using the Eve Character Manager application, and suddenly my XML data is ripped away
No big loss, just annoying.

You're right, I will be telling you you need a diary. But you seem sound and aware about it so I won't be yelling at ya
And I have to point out I wanted the character sheet deleted in my previous thread because they obviously couldn't find a good fix for it. They've disabled and reenabled it too many times now for me to have any faith in it being 'fixed'. I'm the kind of person who prefers to cut a tumour causing minor headaches out completely, even though it seems to be benign.
But if they can find a good fix for it, that's just fine! I use the sheet too! That doesn't mean I don't know how to put reminders on my cellphone though...

It's very hard because I tend to forget everything But I have this nice digital watch and it has a countdown timer so I just set it whenever I switch skills.
That's much better than the charsheet because I don't have to visit any websites that way. I just take a look at my watch that's it... very comfortable
Having to wait 30 seconds for a forum page to load sucks though I mean... after all I'm paying for these forums so I think I can expect them to work properly. I think the "but casual players find the charsheet more important" argument is a little out of proportion. Performance and usability always comes first on a website. There's no point in having nice features on your website when those features cripple the entire rest of the page for thousands of users. There's no justification whatsoever to have such features on a website when you can't make sure that they don't affect the performance.
