Indahmawar Fazmarai wrote:Seriously. If there is a single feature that puts EVE ahead of everything else in the videogame industry, it's the character creator. Just look at what 20 minutes and some experimentation can achieve: Before and afterSame character, same pose, only changed make up, hairdo and put a coat on her. And yet she looks a different person, expressing a different emotion. i just love this stuff. I wish it to be developed further, more options, more power, to achieve greater goals. I am not an artist in no way (neither education nor hobby nor talent), and yet being able to create this sort of stuff just makes me feel proud in a personal, amateur way. I just wish the avatars were somehing else than portraits... Thank you for this post... you guys have no idea how happy it makes me to read such a positve thread on something I really care about (I modeled my character after myself and I think it almost looks more like me than some pictures of me ) CCP karkur | UI Programmer | Team Avatar | @CCP_karkur |

We recently made it so you can move from pose/expression to another pose/expression in the portrait step. I still haven't seen anyone use it to make a funny video/gif... I think you should got on it! CCP karkur | UI Programmer | Team Avatar | @CCP_karkur |

I think my favorite there is Isis Dea. There is just some very subtle sadness in the eyes that just draws me in CCP karkur | UI Programmer | Team Avatar | @CCP_karkur |

Off topic posts removed. Please stay on topic and polite, thank you.
On some other note: I like the distribution of light/darkness and the overall gravity of luZk on EVE-Portraits. The creativity and skills of you, our players, never ceases to amaze me. CCP Phantom - German Community Coordinator |

REALITY X wrote:The second issue I have with the character creation process, is the character figure constantly moving around back and forth when trying to adjust the facial features. I find it extremely annoying and frustrating. is this still an issue? I changed it recently (probably Crucible 1.5) so the character stops moving as soon as you start sculpting him/her.
REALITY X wrote:Third, with the introduction of the latest patch, portraits are now captured in-game as 1024x1024 instead of the previous 512x512. Right away, I wanted to update all of the portraits in the Gallery on EVE Portraits to this bigger size, but I noticed that the sampling quality was not improved with the new patch, and the portraits are actually degraded. You can see this by looking at an example... One of my favourite portraits on the website, Raidjinn (the 2nd place winner of the 1st Round). If you look at the scarring on his face in 1024 size, the quality is just not the same as it is with the smaller 512 size, and it actually looks worse when it shouldn't. are you sure it's not just the scars that are different? We had to change the scars a little bit to fix an issue.[/quote]
And think your website is awesome! And I can't imagine why you couldn't make a CCP dev album or something, all these characters are in game I would say just go for it, and I'll ask someone tomorrow just to make sure CCP karkur | User Interface Programmer | Team Avatar | @CCP_karkur |

Now, the only way to still get the smaller size is from the profiles on EVE Gate Both the EVE Client and EVE Gate get the portraits from the same source, the EVE Image Server. For example, here are the links to get your character portrait in different sizes:

- Are you planning/discussing to bring back some of the GÇ£classicGÇ¥ items? I know that there are a lot of request from every bloodline, I especially liked my GÇ£samurai costumeGÇ¥: http://oldportraits.eveonline.com/Character/1352058648_256.jpg
- Are there plans for more liberal clothing?
- Will there be school uniforms?
- Are you designing new items? Or has this process been halted?
- Why were only a few of the already exitsing items added?
Thank you! Looking forward to the new dev blog!
No, I don't think there are any plans to bring back those items. The military line that has been made was only supposed to be the first line of themed clothing (I believe cyber punk was another theme), but that has pretty much been put on hold for now. I doubt there will be any school uniforms. We are not really designing new items, but we do have an awesome catsuit that was made last year and our character artists have been playing with making some new spacesuits (all female suits), and we are hoping we can add them sometime soon. They were on Sisi for a short time the other day, and people seemed to like them a lot
We wanted to see what happened with the NeX store when we lowered the prices, and see if people were actually interested in the clothes, and it's better to start it off with only a few items. Originally the NeX store was never really supposed to have everything available at all times. Stuff was supposed to be offered for some time, and then taken out of the NeX, and then probably added later. I don't really know how we will handle the NeX and the offers in the future. I'm glad you guys seem to want those clothes, so I hope we can add some more soonish (although I don't make any decision on that). CCP karkur | User Interface Programmer | Team Avatar | @CCP_karkur |

Celeste Taylor wrote:I notice that the default in the forums is still the 512 versions, but thanks to your informative post it is easy to bring up the 1024 version especially during DT. If you compare the two images in full screen mode the differences become very apparent. The 512 images look very blurry when blown up to fill a 60" television! How hard would it be to have the 3D model viewer installed into EVE gate? It would be nice to also see these full body avatars accessible without having to type the characters name in the in game search. It would make things convenient and also put the NEX items to a little more use, I know that CCP t0rfifrans was going to contact one of the web dev teams and ask them to change the default to 1024; I'll follow up on that.
