Destroyer: Racial Frigate @ 4 Battlecruiser: Racial Cruiser @ 2
They seem awfully preliminary though, so I'd doubt that will be how it takes form on TQ

ok ok ok i know this really should all be posted in the shiva whatsamajig forum but i cant help but comment since its hear :)
my prediction would be that the sklill reqs are that low for either.
a) There just tech 1 ships and therefor dont need high skill reqs
b) [and in imo the most likley] skill reqs have been set very low so people can train and test them very easily, if you had to train cruiser 5, shiva would be nearly (assumign its on schedule) ready for realise ---------------------------

I doubt training times for them will be very harsh since they are supposed to bridge the gaps between frigate-cruiser and cruiser-battleship. I suppose they mean that both skillwise and costwise, since those two factors usually go hand in hand...

my speculation is that what the testing requirements are, are going to be EXTREMELY similar to the prereq's for the ship class specific skill.
ie: you get Frig 4 of a race, you can train for both that race's destroyers, and that race's Cruisers.
and on a side note, not even fighting yet, but just piloting a little. i'm very unimpressed with the Gallente Destroyer. IMO its fugly, and doesn't fly real well. at least not to my taste.

I think frig 4 / cruiser 3 would do fine as preqs, shrug.
Assualt ships have insane resistances and far better-than-usual bonuses. If they have to be buffed slightly, so be it.

Edited by: Meehan on 08/10/2004 13:23:35 I'm not impressed with any of the Destroyers to be honest. If they are gonna have this concept on TQ, they will have the worst of both worlds (Frigates and Cruisers)
Firepower of a frigate, speed and bulkyness of a cruiser, grid of a frigate (meaning no defense nor speed modules to go with the cruiser sized hull).
Worst of two worlds. The Battlecruisers seem very good though!

well I've heard at least the caldari destroyer mops up frigs quite well, and I can definitely imagine the gallente one having potential to do that as well.
in my eyes, at least the destroyer is essentially a poor man's assault ship.
though the BC's I agree, own. lol, I memorized the loadout I used... though not 100% optimal I'm sure, it gives an example of the fittings...
Brutix(Gallente BC): 6 Medium Neutron Blasters, 2 Webbers, 1 10mn MWD, 1 Large Cap Battery, 2 Energized Armor Hardeners, 1 RCU, 1 PDS, 1 Medium Armor Rep, 1 Nanofiber Structure.
its pretty kick ass, :-)

Edited by: MaiLina KaTar on 08/10/2004 13:44:28 IMO the requirements should not be above frig+cruiser lvl 4 because as someone mentioned before they are supposed to fill the gaps between existing classes. So if you have them require cruiser lvl 5 or something you would probably be better off training them after training for a battleship... and in that case they wouldn't fill the gap anymore, at least when it comes to skill requirements.
Maybe they should keep the requirements as they are and instead raise the rank of the Destroyer/Battlecruiser skill? That way you'd be able to fly both those ships before you have the skills for a bs but you'd have to invest more training time if you want to make them 100% effective.

I think youll need Frigate lvl 4 and Destroyer lvl 1 for destroyers. Then Frigate lvl 4 and Cruiser lvl 4 for bc's.
Cruiser skill would require Destroyer lvl 4 and Bs skill would require BC lvl 4.
That would put them right between the other ships. ---------------------------

Question is, following that scheme, what ranks will the skills be?
