Hey guys I need some serious help with my vexor fitting. I am doing level 2 missions right now with this setup:
High: 3x dual 150mm 1x salvager
Med: 3x cap recharger I
Low: 1x Medium armor repair 2x mission specific hardener 1x damage control I
Drones: 5x hammerhead I
For some reason I cannot stay alive for more then a min. I am trying to armor tank but im just getting my a** handed to me. Any help with my fitting would be appreciated. Thanks

Hrm. Get rid of the d150s, fit 150s instead. Stuff an AB in the mids and keep your transversal high, use the drones to shred the ships and use 150mms when applicable. Also switch the DCU for another specific hardener.

How high is your drone interfacing skill? Are you considering training scout drone op 5 for t2 drones soon?

my drone skills are pretty weak... i think thats why they arent tossing out much dmg but i die so quickly. im tossing on 1600mm plates in place of the DCU and i switched the dual 150s to 150s ill see how it is

You don't need the plate.
In missions, there's two variables. Applied DPS and DPS tanked. A 1600 plate helps with neither.
An afterburner will mitigate a LOT of damage if you increase your transversal. Hell, half the time you don't need to be anywhere close to the NPCs in vexor. You shouldn't be having issues tanking. Take a read of the tracking guide posted in the stickies.

if your drone skills are low, then your hammerheads probably aren't going to track frigate NPCs very well. stick to light drones for frigs.
and range is your friend.

Alternatively, if you want to use shields (and you have a fair amount of cash) you could try the following:
Highs: Whatever Mids: 3 x Large Shield Extenders Lows: 4 x Shield Power Relays Rigs: 2 x EM I, Therm I
The rigs run around 4 million or so the last time I looked. This should give you an omni-tank easily capable of handling any L2 mission. I actually took it into the first room on an L4 mission (WC4) and it managed to hold up well enough against the 5 ships on the Guristas side (3 x BS, 2 x BC, IIRC) for me to kill them (I should mention that I was using all T2 gear and have maxed shield skills, so don't expect the same results).

Edited by: Acarion Sphinx on 11/08/2009 06:09:59 For Level 2's: Drop the hammerheads and use hobgoblins instead.
Goblins are: -Faster (faster initial application of dps on distant targets) -Smaller (hoards of replacements in your bay, less likely to get hit by incomming fire) -Cheaper (loosing them dont hurt wallet as bad as loosing Hammers) -Better at killing friggs (They have better tracking and less sig radius on their gunz)
Use a Drone range mod or two, in highs (Drone Link Augmentor?). Perhaps a few salvagers and tractors too.
Train T2 Drones. It's worth every penny and minute spent on skillpoints. Probalby the most overlooked category in skills at the beginning of an eve carreer.
Use Shields like sugested above. Armor tanking in PVE is like peeing your pants in the winter cuz your balls are cold. At first thought, it might seem like a good idea for getting warmer but in the end you'll realize perhaps it wasnt.
Edit: spelling 4tw

You'd mentioned that your drones are not doing any dmg ... You're using the wrong drones. I see 5x hammer heads. What rats shoot at you is also what they are weak against. Also, small drones are better vrs small fast targets. so scout drones for rat frigs, and medium drones for rat cruisers.

Whipped this together as an aspirational thing. Intentionally made it all T2 (and I have to admit I can't fit the guns yet; that's still over two days away). My drone skills are, umm, very good.
In moving towards this, I'd prioritize T2 in this order:
- Drones
- Tank (probably hardeners then the repper
- Cap
- Guns
[Vexor, missions] Energized Thermic Membrane II Energized Regenerative Membrane II Medium Armor Repairer II Capacitor Power Relay II
Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburners Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
Dual 150mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge M Dual 150mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge M Dual 150mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge M Dual 150mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge M [empty high slot]
[empty rig slot] [empty rig slot] [empty rig slot]
Hammerhead II x5 Hobgoblin II x5

Yeah, I have something like that plugged in too.
But methinks you missed the PvE aspects of the thread somewhere.

I dont have EFT here, but if I recall, a peroxide cap battery (not booster) in the mids is generally better than 2 cap rechargers. It should free up the cap mod in low slot for you for a mag stab or extra tank.
