Our 0.0 corp have started to see a few WH's and I'm wondering what the perfect way to run a wh mining op is?
ie. How much protection is needed, how many ships etc.

Pretty much like 0.0 mining ops. Your intel channel is your directional scanner. Keep hitting the scan button and look for probes (<- not 100% safe, though).

you better have combat ships sitting with the miners, cause any experienced pilot who wants them dead will either have the sites BMed before hand or be able to get them very quickly with the aide of directional scanner.
also, the hulks mass is 40 m hg. make sure to take that into account and try to minimize hulk runs

have an alt at the kspace side of wh to see if anyone comes in. D-Scan offcourse for all that r inside. a safespot for everyone and a ship with damps and ecm to get the locking from the hulk/orcas. or a bunch of tacklers if you want active defense

Edited by: Cassiopeia Draco on 13/08/2009 12:20:37 Pretty much everything thats mentioned above, and small pos with just shields up and enough stront for 24 hours makes an excellent safespot/staging area for the Orca/Rorqual/haulers to sit while giving bonuses in relative safety.
(Not sure if a Rorqual can run mineral compression while in a pos bubble).
The deep scanner is your friend, some WH's have 'blind spots' where Probes can be dropped out of range, so a Cloaked ship with Combat probes out set to max range is a good way of covering those areas.
As for collapsing a WH, a Geddon fitted with a full fit of 1600mm plates will collapse a Class 3 in 3-4 jumps. Just keep a cloaked scout on the outside.
If you really want to protect yourself, put a medium bubble up on the inside of the WH's as you would at an 0.0 gate, it should give you enough time to warp out to a safespot.
PS : dont forget there are WH's to other WH's so you might want to find and watch them as well.
