Only the Russians log off? So then why give it a Polish name? ...

Quite a few Russian words end in "ski" (oyski-poyski, etc). Russians kept logging off - hence logoffski. ---

Just wait until next Space Pope comes from Poland. Then you'll see the Amarr [bleep] their collective pants as John Paul MM's Papal Reunification Fleet arrives via a resurrected Eve gate.

Argh... Very punny, you're a real commode-ian, flush flush.
(For anyone who is Pope-clueless: John Paul II, one of the more famous popes, was Polish. For anyone who is Roman numeral impaired, "II" is 2. "MM" is 2,000, thus implying that 2,000 Popes have taken the name John Paul, which would be far in the future, implying that ... oh never mind. This is why I don't watch Monty Python with most people.)

It's a valid tactic, as confirmed by a GM.
I recommend you and your fellow pilots abuse it yourselves as much as possible and promote its use elsewhere. And when this **** starts to reach problematic proportions, CCP will have no choice to make it a priority. |

I would accept them fixing it IF they can fix the socket closed error. Then all you have to worry about is your internet or power going off while your titan is being blobbed.

But let's be honest here; only the minutest fraction of people who log off after jumping through a gate or warping to a hostile spot do so involuntarily.

OK, simple:
- Person connects to server - server runs a tracert on them and records the last IP before theirs (tracert lists the connection route) - Person jumps into camp - person mysteriously loses their internet connection - server immediately pings the previously recorder routing IP - If the ping is successful, then it is probably a logoffski or computer failure. Either way their ship should get 15 minutes aggro. - If the ping is unsuccessful, then there is an internet problem, and it should proceed as it does currently
Of course they should only implement this once EVE stops crashing from random bugs (probably some time in 2030). This would be 100% reliable at catching cheats (unless they fancy going down to their local telephone exchange with a shotgun), and should only hurt a small minority of legitimate disconnects.

You realise a disconnection does not necessarily result in failed pings, or at least i hope you do. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Don't worry, tracert doesn't list internal LAN/WAN connections - only those visible to the rest of the internet
