I don't normally come on the forums too much but I am amazed at how many petitions are being discussed here and they are all the same "I lost my ship" whines.
CCP should introduce an isk fee to petition these as it would remove a lot of the crap ones and generally give the GM's more time to deal with better issues.

Veldspar!
ps. What would happen if you don't have the ISK required to place the petition? Can you petition that you cannot petition because petitioning costs ISK which you don't have... Or what if I cannot log in to make the ISK needed to petition so I cannot peitition that I cannot log on to the game to make the petition that I need to resolve the first petition.
Now, whoever count how many times I said peition in this post and add 640325 to the sum is the winner.

My theory:
normally these whiners are being helped sufficiently by CCP (that says something doesnt it), but with all the hacks now CCP is very busy resulting in more whining.

I already pay about 17 euros a month to be able to petition, a few more ISK won't exactly change the outcome.
Can you imagine your bank charging you money every time you ring their call centre? No? Neither can I.
Having said that, I can't imagine my bank's call centre calling me a liar and telling me that my money is just gone and they're not prepared to even look at the possibility of doing anything about this instance, or anything to prevent it happening again.

Even better, charge an actual fee. $50 per petition should do it.
We don't waste time posting petitions, and CCP gets more revenue from the imbeciles that actually do petition. Signature locked for discussing moderation. Navigator

So, if CCP accidentally puts you in negative isk for whatever reason, you wouldnt be able to petition it until you had bought a metric ****ton of GTCs?

Charging virtual money for a service which other games provide much quicker and free? CCPs GM team are a mixed bunch at the best of times in terms of customer support.

Edited by: iudex on 14/08/2009 14:45:23 OP has a point, a while ago I even heard alliance leaders advising fleet members to always petition all fleet battle losses, since there's "always a good chance that lag is involved" in those large fleet-fight, along the lines of "it doesn't hurt to ask".
Maybe asking isk from everyone isn't the right way, but there should definitely be some kind of punishment if people petition losses that don't qualify for reimbursement. With my last petition I had to wait almost 2 weeks for an answer, this happens if the system is overloaded with reasonless petitions.

So either it is neglectable and no one of the longer players cares, or it is so much a new player can never petition when his mission is bugged for example.
Just start removing ability to petition from people who clearly show they cant handle the responsibility.

So what? A 1% fee? I got 4bil ISK, which would be a 40mil fee. I am not going to risk 40mil to try to get a ceptor back or maybe even a battleship from some lag. The logs always seem "to show nothing".

When I petition isk sellers or macros, why should I be taxed isk for it? Bad idea imo.

CCP should just ban people who insist on making stupid or piontless petitions, but unfortunatelly that's not how it works.
