Edited by: Ruban Spangler on 14/08/2009 10:36:34 Ok IÆm a noob and left station without an up-to-date clone and the inevitable happened û I lost some skill points.
I want to be able to buy my way out of this mess. At the moment no one seems to gain from this game mechanic. CCP does not get any extra isk sales, I lose skills, my enemies donÆt even know its happened. So why not let me use a new Medical facility to recover my lost skill points. There must be some residual information about my skills in the medical system from all that Clone Jumping I do. Why canÆt I pay an exorbitant fee to get some medical lab technicians to help me recover my lost skills? The fee could be a direct correlation of the skills I have. Say something like 100m ISK per 10M SP. CCP would sell more PLEXs and IÆd be a noob instead of an angry ****ed off noob.
If this idea is pants then at least record on my pod kill mail that I did not have an up-to-date clone. Someone should get something from this mechanic Bene Gesserit is recruiting. |

So basically you are saying, "Screw the rules, I have money" I have to say no to this. Death would be naught but a slap on the wrist nif you could just undo the damage. Next time be prepared for any eventuality, that means insuring your ship and updating your clone, and only use what you can afford to lose -Xindi Kraid: Delivering acerbic wit and scathing comments with just a dash of 'stab you in the eye' |

I lost my skills not because I was short of ISK but because I was a noob who ignored or had the warning switched off. So yes I am saying I have ISK let me spend it. The PLEX is CCPÆs way of letting us short cut our way to ISK riches and undo some of our other in-game mistakes. Why not this one? Bene Gesserit is recruiting. |

Edited by: Tiny Tove on 14/08/2009 10:54:41 Well any other death penalty you suffer you already use ISK to recover from. Loss of ships / modules / time / opportunity, that sort of thing.
This particular death penalty you can't buy your way out of. I don't really see the point of it frankly, but not an ISK escape. You can get 100% SP gain boost these days (as a new character), so the software exists to give you a % SP gain boost until you're back to where you should be in about a month's time or so... same for T3 losses I guess.
I just can't see the point in rigidly enforcing a permanent sp loss any longer. It's a bit archaic and seems more appropriate to a time when the player base were all on similar sp levels and it might have meant something. But now... it just looks archaic.
But not an ISK buyout no. Not while anybody else can't buy % sp gain for ISK/PLEX.

Not being the sharpest tack in the box, is no reason for a change.
Edit: Thanks for posting though, made me laugh.

I fully endorse your idea of showing lost skills in the killmail. ---

The benefit of the mechanic is the joy in knowing that the person doing the 'pew pewing' either cost their victim ISK, implants, or skillpoints (if you're lucky, all three!)

I would like to see a skill like "forensic" where you can try and salvage implants from corpses.
