Note the space. I see this all the time when people are talking about big volumes (what they can haul, what they mined last week etc), and sometimes it can cause BIG confusion. I'll explain:
13k m^3 = 13,000 m^3 = 13,000 cubes, 1 metre per side.
13 km^3 = 13 km^3 = 13 cubes, 1 kilometre per side.
Volume of a 1 km^3 cube = 1,000 m x 1,000 m x 1,000 m =1,000,000,000 m^3
Therefore 13 km^3 = 13,000,000,000 m^3 = 13,000,000k m^3 >> 13k m^3
So be aware. I will say it again:
1 km^3 = 1,000,000k m^3
I apologize to those unfamiliar with the metric system (but time to at least join the 20th century BTW :), but that space makes a BIG difference. A million times either way.

I'm sure that it wasn't people just missing the space between k and m that made for km3 instead of k m3

I wonder how many of those people who got it wrong are just being lazy and not noticing a space or something, or being lazy when they type?

You do realize that this has nothing to do with the metric system, right?
1 yard = 3 ft. 1 yard^3 is not 3 ft^3. 1 yard^3 = 9 ft^3.

The metric system is for commies. The problem with commies is, you give 'em an inch, they take a mile.

Volume of volume?? 1km^3 is already the volume of said cube. You can't magically then switch units to 1,000m to do the calculation. Properly it would be some m^6 unit but no idea what that is

Thanks for the whitespace link, that's neat. I hadn't heard of it before!
As for being a communist, please send 50million ISK to this character and the fighting republicans will take care of you. Sorry but we can't destroy whole alliances free of charge.

Indeed it is, and, as the equation you quoted states, 1,000,000,000 m^3 is also the volume of said cube. Just pointing out the formula for calculating volume. As can be seen in at least one of the posts above - it isn't obvious to everyone. The reason I brought up the metric system is that because it uses the k in units it can cause the confusion. We don't, for example, use: 1,000 ft = 1 kft.

Confirming I deal drugs in Europe while attending my Local Communism and You meetings.
Then again considering that the one country in the world of any size that doesn't use metric also jails more people for drug-related offenses than anyone else perhaps it is the other way around for who deals drugs
