Has anyone EVER had luck petitioning CCP? I have gotten stiffed every time. Latest one was a bug where I DC'd and my freighter staying out in space for over 2 minutes without aligning just sitting there. Had a scout watch this unfold. Then about 3 minutes after the DC two guys popped up in local. Then about 45 seconds later they found my freighter....still sitting there, not even trying to warp out. They scrammed and popped it. My toon has Adv Spaceship command 5, needless to say on my worst day it takes maybe 45seconds for me to align and warp out. in excess of three minutes is absurd. But CCP say, "we cannot verify this on our in, better fortune in the future" WTF??!!! 3bil lost and all you say is better fortune in the future?
Anyon else have similar problems getting crap resolved by CCP?

Edited by: Donna Heywood on 14/08/2009 12:58:17 Yes it is harsh, but what were you thinking of not travelling with a heavy guard ?
I remember when I was doing similar to you, moving goods about always made sure I had a decent escort.
On the petition issue, I have been about 50/50 on successful resolutions. Though admittedly they were all due to severe server performance.

I was day by day moving a freighter only when systems were empty for one jump either way. As was the case here.

This only applies to people who are able to use logic and are capable of being their own harshest critic, other people (like 98% of the world population) is NOT allowed to escalate. You ARE allowed to post whines on the forums about it though.

Every petition I filed went through successfully, except the one time I noobishly petitioned something that belonged into a bug report (bug got fixed next patch). You people with issues must be doing something wrong, I'd say. -------- Ideas for: Mining

This isn't a bug, and you should not be reimbursed. Stop filling the queue with useless crap.
What probably happened is this: Jumped through a gate, got ganked, tried a logoffski and failed.

The chance of what you claim happening is as good as not existing.
Apart from that: You flew a frighter with 3 bil through lowsec (or at war) without an escort? Serves you right, then.

Your scout didn't per chance have you warp scrammed did he? Hit the wrong button and instead of webbing you to help align faster he scrammed you? Or he was a spy that sabotaged your emergency warp? So many possibilities and you had to take the word of somebody that saw something you didn't. He could lie to you and you would never know. Simply keep you scrammed until they showed up then jump out of system, boom he's no longer on the killmail and you lost a freighter.
Just one of many possibilities.

Fairly common when you DC.
The signal between you and the server get lost and the server don't get any communication saying that you have disconnected. So it notices only when he check if you are still connected, sometime it can be a long span time.
CCP has no way to know when your PC lost the signal, they can know only when their servers got the signal saying you are no longer connected.
So, as harsh as it is to you, they were right non reimbursing you. It was internet lag and lag is not reimbursed.
My experience, when I petitioned, was always positive.
The only time I haven't got a ship reimbursed was because it was lag and not a bug. And the GM was right not reimbursing. On the other hand I have done 4 request of ship reimbursement in 3 years of playing with multiple characters.

Just to support a bit the OP.
I run 2 accounts at the same time fairly often. After I close one (so the server should [barring bugs] receive immediately the signal that I am leaving EVE with that account) i see the other character in my chat window for a time that can go from some second to several minutes.
Today I closed one character in a busy system while in station (Arnon 250 people in local) and the character did stay in the chat windows with his green dot for at least 4 minutes.
It is summer, the people servicing the net is less, it is used more, so the net result is that the service is worse. I noticed a decrease in performance every summer. Nothing that CCP can really do for that.

wow got some real, high and mighty responses and some really good ones. it might have been the delay due to disconnect. And as far as what happened I wasn't lying. It was BS what happened and is the first time I ever petitioned a ship loss. Also, i didn't ask for cargo to be returned. I was just asking to replace the ship. Also, when you live in nullsec you must go through lowsec to get there. Maybe some of you guys all live in highsec and don't know about this mysterious void called nullsec. I loved the intelligent reasoning though of making up what you think happened, btw I was my own scout watching this unfold. So I am pretty sure I didn't warp scram myself.
Thanks for the intelligent responses and you trolls go find a bridge or get laid or something.

I would like to know why you didn't log back in within the 3 minutes that you watched this with your alt. It takes about 30 seconds to relog.

Still, your scout didn't DC and could watch it all. So it's unlikely to be a CCP server problem but more a problem on your side or the "internet itself". CCP just can't verify that. And reimbursing people just because they claim it was CCPs fault is not feasible.

CCP has no real customer service... it's a computer program that looks for certain keywords in your petition and generates and automatic response. ---- a reply which adds nothing to a thread or results in a thread being bumped with no new discussion worthy content is considered spam and as such warrants a forum ban |

Yeah the one guy who responded with the lag from the DC explained a lot. I am fine without getting reimbursed, but appeared to be an apparent bug. Ohh well as is eve. Go big or keep your butt in empire.

People don't just take summer off from work like school children. And the equipment is generally reliable for networks and won't degrade that fast. The real reason is because the ISP can't handle the increased load they get during from the summer from alot of the people who don't have school, etc(students mostly of all ages).

Edited by: AnonyTerrorNinja on 15/08/2009 06:30:02 Some DLL errors I get on occasion (frequency reduced a LOT by reinstalling from a nearly up to date client installer and nerfing all my cache files), will cause the process and its subsequent connections to stay open, but close the actual client.
Unless I go and actively kill the process and/or connections and/or log the same account on using a new client process, my character will stay in space as though nothing has happened.
If you happen to be getting the same issues, I recommend you make sure to go check task manager for any inactive EVE client(read: exefile.exe [yes, the EVE client is exefile.exe] process that NEVER has CPU usage but has a considerable chunk of ram used) and kill it asap. Worst that can happen is you close the wrong EVE client and end up having to log another account back in anyway.
As for petitions?
I've filed in excess of 30 across my characters in the 5 odd years I've been playing, and they've all been answered. Ship reimbursement ones were generally all fulfilled due to it being a painfully obvious case of "something abnormal happened" rather than "oh, my pc crashed, can i has stuff back plz?" or "wtf I always tank this mission howcome I got wtfbbq'd this time omg give my stuff back nao!" ---

Being in a 'favorite' corp seems to help quite a lot.
On the whole it seems to help that you have be all nice to the GM and that. They tend to be on some kind of quota and hence care more about that than actually helping you the best way they can.

this is it. If you log out in such situation, ALWAYS check in the taskmanager if the corespondend exefile.exe is CLOSED. If it is still there, the Client still receives messages from the server and responds to them, so the server thinks you are still there.
They were right not to reimburse you, because they can't see if this happened, it is an error in their software tho.
