Respect is earned. Start refusing to obey some of those illegal orders and then we'll talk about respect.
I'd hate to say it, but most of those orders, at least for the moment, are lawful orders, and as such, must be obeyed, lest someone who disobeys such an order may be punished according to the Uniform Code of Military Justice (Art. 92, if I recall correctly, "Failure to obey a lawful order"). Depending, that may even go as far as a court-martial.
Learn the military legal system, and then try to lecture us on what we should and shouldn't do.
And before anyone tells me off: Navy inactive reservist (finished active duty tour), PS/E-4. Served on one destroyer homeported in Pearl Harbor, HI (2 yrs.), then 1.5 yrs. at the NAVSTA Personnel Support Detachment (Separations/Retirements, then the service record vault). And if it ever came down to it, I'd lay down my life for someone "downrange."
I heard the navy is a great place to meet guys, c/d ?

thats ok... we dont care for your worthless bulletsponge ass either! go and eat a hadji RPG for breakfast ****face there are others who appreciate us squids doing what we do... usually marines who engage in REAL combat (like establishing your beachheads) and veteran leathernecks that appreciate nice american soda, ice cream and mail fresh from our tenders. oh and ground troops who get advanced word about IED's and snipers from our P3 and E-P3E's in the sky. think the AF does all your ground support?? think its fun spending 1 year or 2 forward deployed in a cramped berthing pulling 18hr days in a stinking carrier so ungrateful meatheads will less brains than bullets can ***** and moan? oh and dont get me started on the several THOUSAND navy "pukes" who stepped up and are doing Individual Augmentation Tours to fill gaps in your beloved Army for the same and sometimes LONGER tours than YOU do.
i hope some corpsman reads your **** and lets you bleed out onto the sand.. god knows i would

Edited by: Nol Agnot on 17/08/2009 03:05:02 Isn't this a bad idea? The use of some community sites was restricted to service members some time ago due to them being targeted on there in the quest for sensitive information.
Isn't this just giving those same people a much easier target here?
Oh I see this being mentioned already but yes, military intelligence at work.

Why would anyone set up a channel for the real Band of Brothers?
I would have thought that all of the veterans from the Hundred Years War would have died centuries ago.
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers. For he today that sheds his blood with me, Shall be my brother; be ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition. And gentlemen in England now abed, Shall think themselves accursed they were not here, And hold their manhood's cheap whiles any speaks, That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.
(Not intended as an insult towards military personnel from any country, just pointing out the history of the "real" band of brothers)

Most? Intriguing.
Oh and whilst this thread is raging, one wonders how the OP would feel with retired SS officers in his channel. Or perhaps some iraqi "freedom fighters/insurgents" some of whom are ex mainstream military. (i think the .mil address might be a problem there)
How about some north koreans?
Ditch the "respect the uniform" rhetoric. Any old knobhead can and do put uniforms on. The only qualification is being relativly physicaly fit and having a basic level of education (this is waivable in certain areas)
Individuals in unifrom deserve respect - but some guy who got fired and signed up because he saw the advert about scuba diving and abseiling. Whats he to me?
Uniform worship leads to tyranny.

You realy dont get security in any form it looks like. Sadly its common with people that dont work with security. And when "sevice" people dont get it I always feel sad inside. You already have a mark on your back w/o talking about your job. Why make it worse? so you can feel cool? to get respect from random kids that dont know you?
I dont talk about my job with outsiders. Even if you "only" work as a janitor you can be a great security risk for the company you work for.
If the wrong guy know what you do at work and where you work your life can turn in to a hell. I work with security, I tell people that much but never where or what I actually do. I dont do it for to protect some company or some goverment. I keep that information for my self to keep the risks down for me and my family.
Unfortunately it not only on tv people get harmed due to what they know or what other may belive they know. Personal security is a very important thing to keep in mind. ----- Never knock on Death's door; ring the doorbell and run (he hates that) |

I'm a proud member of the Iraqi insurgency. Understandably I don't have a .mil address, however I do have some amateur footage me and a few fellow fighters blowing up American trucks with roadside bombs I could show as proof of service. I'll make sure to stop by your channel as soon as I am able.
