How many Gallente people are there in Alkabsi? You know, one of the systems neighbouring Sarum Prime?

Where do these non-entities come from?
Is there a planet somewhere where specialised 'failure-filled' growth pods churn out these wastes of space?

I enjoyed how she thinks FOOM attacks in Caldari high security systems was some strategic discovery. I recall seeing a fleet of random Caldari Militia members (Boromor leading them?) attack Gallente militia members in their high security systems long before FOOM tried it. To be fair, this may have predated them even joining the FDU because it happened very early in the fighting.

FOOM was a member of the militia within 30 hours of the opening of roles.
While the first high sec incursion was performed by CalMil (under Boromor I beleive as well) it was a suicide - lets do it on a lark - decision. I remember quite clearly the absolute suprise by many of the CalMil on the GalNet that so many actually survived the quick romp into high sec. I believe it occurred about 3 weeks into the conflict.
FOOM went to Motsue and Jita and sat with impunity on the gates and stations shooting whomever they desired within the CalMil for hours. That was a first. I believe the Boromor incursion happened just about 2 weeks before our first raid, although I'm not sure exactly... There wasn't much time between the two events. We went on to conduct around another 6-10 raids before they became infective enough to warrant discontinuing them.
As to that being some strategic discovery, well it was. However in the light of retrospect it was not very significant beyond the outrage and hysteria that it spawned on the GalNet.
As to the manner in which accomplishments where presented in the story. Please allow a little leeway for some turns of phrases and such. It was a politically focused story.
Some have recognized the point, some have not, some have demonstrated the point quite effectively as well even though they may not realize it in their primate little minds.

I'm proud to be "Gallante." I don't want to be called a FOOM.
Wat's that?
Oh, I see.

I knew there were some parallels between the performance of the FDU and BRUCE. It's not terribly surprising to see the same corporation at the center of it. |

I feel this post may be the prelude to an enormously long, drawn-out failure cascade of proportions not seen since the last enormously long, drawn-out failure cascade of note.

Name your ship and lets see if you can pass my close examination.
I do not duel, except for sport between friends, using only those classes of ship which can be manned solely by the pilot. You are asking me to fight in order to resolve the discrepancy between our points - yours being that kills are all that matters, mine being the precise opposite. I refuse your challenge, pilot, on the simple grounds that it is frotting stupid.
Blowing up a ship to prove that blowing up ships isn't the point? That's like brawling for pacifism, or enslaving in the name of freedom. I have better things to do with my time and money than waste both of them on defending my honour from a man possessed of the intellectual acuity of a can of Starsi.
You entirely lack the tools necessary to meaningfully slight my honour, pilot. And even if you could, I wouldn't waste a ship on it - I'd choose to settle it in the dojo instead. - Verin "Stitcher" Hakatain. |

Every time Sky speaks, I like her more and more. What you've said here reminds me of a story my mother told me once.
In a valley nestled deep among the wintry Mountains of Jotunheim, a Wisewoman sat at the bedside of a dying Lady. The Lady was the wife of the valley's chieftain; she was full with child, but her eyes gazed sightlessly at the roof of her bedchamber and her body trembled with a fever that festered in her blood.
The Wisewoman turned to the Chieftain. He was a tall man - strong, brave and skilled as a warrior. None could say they had stood against him and come away the victor. His name was Pride, and he told all daily the depth of the love he felt for his wife.
"The Lady is dying," the Wisewoman told him. "She will pass away before the week is out unless you venture through the snow to Hailhame and bring back a febrifuge made by the Shaman there. Even in this weather, it should take you but a night and a day - will you go?"
Pride struck his fist against his breast. "I will go, Grandmother. All know how much I love my Lady and the child that she bears. I will bring back a cure no fever can withstand."
"The Shaman has what we need. Do but ask him, and you shall have it." The Wise Woman bid him farewell at the door and returned to soothe his bride's suffering with cups of water melted from the fresh snow.
***
Pride struck out down the road to Hailhame. His stride was long and easy, eating away the miles though betimes he waded hip-deep in snowdrifts or could barely see his path through the falling snow.
Pride was but an hour from his home when he laid eyes upon an warrior of an enemy clan; he was hunting alone, barely more than a boy, clad in poor cloth rather than the warm furs and sturdy leathers that adorned the chieftain. Pride crept up behind the warrior and slew him, but the act left the taste of dishonour in his mouth, so he followed the boy's tracks to his village.
In the village of his enemy, Pride lifted high his spear and proclaimed "Behold! I am Pride, son of Courage and Flame, chief of this valley! Your clan trespass in my lands, but I offer your warriors the chance to best me in combat and so save all your lives." He roared to the sky over the simple huts and the clansmen trembled in fear.
***
Four days, the Wisewoman sat with the Lady, waiting for Pride's return. The fever had worsened, so the Lady scarcely knew consciousness, but whimpered in pain in her delirium and the child's heartbeat grew faint to the Wise Woman's ear. When she heard the house door open at long last, the Wisewoman leapt to her feet.
"Where have you been?" she cried to Pride.
He grinned at the old woman happily, though his clothes were tattered and torn, ice frozen in his hair and he bore many wounds.
"Fear not, Grandmother! I have been forth and seized from the hands of our enemies the ancient Shotgun of Harkin! Four days I stood and fought for it, facing the finest warriors their clan could send at me. Four nights, I went without meat or mead to bring them to me. I have bested 400 men, from the weak to the mighty, the young to the wise, and none could stand against me. This gun has graced the history of the tribes for 400 years, wielded by the mightiest warriors in our history, back to the General Harkin himself. It is the finest gun ever forged, its barrel turned from meteorite steel, coded with ancient glyphs, blessed with a destiny all its own."
"That's great," said the Wisewoman, "but it's no bloody help, is it?"

Always with the excuses, we are. "The Caldari military is stronger than ours, so we won't plex. We don't get enough rewards, so we won't plex. FOOM ruined us, so we won't plex. The timing of the attacks is inconvenient, so we won't plex." And so on. We Gallente are full of excuses.
The simple truth is this, we lost because WE gave up. We chose not to fight for our territory and so we lost it all. Furthermore we allowed a culture of negativity (and excuses) to grow up around the topic to the point now where those few of us who will plex are ridiculed within our own militia. As I'm sure some follow on replies will demonstrate.
Drop the excuses and BS Gallente. Stop ignoring open plexes when you roam and start taking them. All of them. Start looking for plexes when you roam and take them. All of them. Or, at the least, be supportive of those who do want to fight for territory. Right now we have met the enemy and the enemy is *us*. Not the caldari navy, not the timing, not FOOM. The problem is our own attitude. But that means that we hold the solution in our hands, we just have to decide to enact it.
