For the love of the great Amarr God, did you guys have to wipe out all my overview settings and tabs again ? Grrrrr
On the plus side, scanning is much improved, but please make the boxes about a fifth of their current size. At the low scan levels all I can see are boxes. --- Sol: A microwarp drive? In a battleship? Are you insane? They arenÆt built for this! Clear Skies - The Movie |

Ok, I have not read any of the preceeding. So, what I am about to say may have already been said many times. And yeah it's a great game.
But . . . a big thanks for the LARGE EGRESS PORT rigs I now have to do something with, or sell for a pitance on the market (big demand for those), and for all my wonderful new LARGE researched rig BPOs such as LARGE PURGER RIG BPO. I'm sure someone will squeeze them onto a Drake anyway because the damn things have the overpowered tanks and sig radii of a BSs already, right?

Faster log-in speed for me, thank you. It no longer seems to check all the files on my hard drive while the progress bar is stuck at Authenticating. Now it gets past Authenticating fast, and logs me in.
Good deal.

I want to thank you for implementing awesome warp effect on TQ, and new scan probe graphics !!! Also, the new pod model is very nice.
Don't think that warp scrambler became better. Now it is very hard to see the source of scrambling. Also, some problems are still there.. such as: - rectangle shadows - bad texture quality on some ships (f.ex. hyperion, dominix, obelisk) - blaster weapons.. need balancing - effects: scrambler, eccm, salvager, cynojump
But in general, i think it is a succesful patch, thank you

What the hell was the point in not allowing us to fit large rigs on medium rig or small ships? They do the exact same thing and the smalls an mediums haven't even been produced yet. If someone wants to fit one rig size larger on a smaller ship why the hell shouldn't they be able to?

New patch is working smooth as hell for me, though the extended extended DT was annoying as hell.
Loving the new rig system. Got me a new BPO, some new skills and soon I'll pump out some nice new rigs.
Also glad to see the forum is still full of people whining. I would probably never bother to come here without them :D

Man you people have been drinking waaaaayyyy too much haterade. Stop assuming that all CCP staff are superhuman and then *****ing when they turn out to be only regular human. Stuff like this doenst always go according to plan, and anyone who actually knows anything about this sort of thing knows that delays and surprise issues are unavoidable.
Thanks for yet another patch, to yet another expansion, that is free for all players to enjoy, CCP. Your continued efforts to improve this game are much appreciated.... at least, by the people who actually matter.
Side note: Yeah the 2 second scanner thing is annoying, but I always wondered why there was no delay on it. Seemed to me like it was always hard on your servers. 2 seconds is still quick enough for most people, and I can find people in belts just as easily and just as quickly as I did before.

patch seems nice, the new rig setup really sucks. a hole new market has to be setup so 0.0 life really blows. they all still have the same atributes except volume.

The new small rigs are fantastic. They're just what the doctor ordered. I flew over to the systems the BPOs were seeded in, picked up all the ones I was interested in, returned home and started building! All in all good idea, good execution, good result.
The new warp effect is cool, and the new pod design is nifty.
One problem is the client crashed twice for no apparent reason. Both times I was autopiloting, and it crashed to desktop on approach to the jumpgate. It only seems to happen when other ships are around. By turning LOD, Shader, and Texture detail levels to Low, the problem went away. I'm guessing a certain ship/model/effect is causing the crash, and I just need to narrow it down a bit to find it. I'll try to gather info about this and submit a bug report.
Looking forward to trying out the new scanning interface, didn't get a chance to today. The "1 dot for multiple results" bug was killing me, so I'm glad the patchnotes say it is fixed now.

Confirming that the changes to the scanning system are ****ing awesome. Nerfing the JF-esque capabilities of Carriers is equally win. I don't like how non-combat rigs like salvage tackles and grav caps cost peanuts now, but overall the rig change is also win.
New targets to ninjaloot/salvage through the epic arcs...the biggest win of them all

overall nice tho a few issues.
1. why was the research time increased on the now "large" rig bpo's? i can understand increasing it however this is a bit much, what was going to take me 7 days of research is now 70. A rig isnt a long build time nor a heavy resource item why was this increased so much?
2. salvage conversion? where is it. That all the notes about the new rigs there was supposed to be a mod for high sec pos's to repair damaged salvage so it could be used for t2 rig creation.

Quick comment on the probing changes - you got it half right. Shift to a translucent globe is excellent; much easier to see and position probes. However, addition of interesting circles has no value and after a bit simply clutters up the interface, making it hard to see what you are trying to do. Suggest you rethink and remove the interescting circles.

wow the 2 second delay in the system scanner is freaking annoying. Even when moving the damn angle bar.
Please get rid of that delay or at the minimum make the angle bar reset to previous successful scan when it fails. Right now I cant tell if the angle change worked or not. It just pops up the idiot message for 5 seconds.
Bad bad change to the UI on this one. There really had to be a better way to do this.

WHOEVER THOUGHT THIS UP IS NOT THINKING FIX THE PROBLEM.
Fix it so that there is a 1 second protection delay to new targets decloaking when entering system instead of this.
I cannot scan targets down in belts in an efficient amount of time with this. Please do not bring yet ANOTHER NERF to the directional scanner.
PLEASE I am begging you.

Being that this is a feedback thread, it would be useful if the rig slots in the fitting screen had at minimum an S M or L to indicate the required rig size for the ship. It is mostly common sense however some ships seem to have been left in a bit of a grey area. Mining barges and exhumers would be a good example.

Less angry more constructive:
Here is the reason they nerfed it:
People who were decloaking after gate transit were showing up on scanner before they were showing up on overview. This was causing people to gain a lock before the target "showed up" and created a lot of sad people and a lot of petitions.
What they did wrong:
They nerfed the directional scanner instead of providing a solution to the problem.
How to fix it:
Provide a protective amount of time that targets will not show up on scanner (in the area of 0.5 to 1 second) so that people cannot use the scanner to get a faster lock on targets. This is a direct nerf to the directional scanner and it affects the game everywhere, not just on gates.

You wanted me to post, so im posting..
I agree with CCP.. Spamming the crap out of the scan button is only ever going to cause high server and DB load. There is pretty much no way to code it more efficiently than 'get all object in system, calculate distance to requesting object, if its in range pass info to client'. In a place like jita that would be a **** tone of DB calls and processing.. The more objects in system, the more its going to get used and the more load its going to add to the servers.. And its exponential growth as well..
2 seconds is pretty quick. I cant narrow scan a belt that fast and im sorry that you can and you feel like you are being nerfed.
Is it going to kill belt piracy? Nope, cos its pretty much already dead anyway..
Edit: To address your latest post.. No.. The reason it got nerfed was because mining bots were spamming the hell out of it 23/7 so they could automatically dock up wen mining in 0.0.. This is fine if 1 or 2 people do it from time to time, but a thousand bots doing it 23/7 just on the off chance that someone will come and visit them to try and gank them just causes massive load that is un-needed.

CCP just whacked a ton of farmers and you know it. Making this change is unnecessary as that load is now gone, and I should not have to deal with penalties to my game play because of farmers. I swear there are ways to fix this other than a 2 second scan penalty.
Perhaps a way to fix it is to give the scanner that has the enter button held down a penalty after so long. For example, if held down for 3 seconds (with barely any pause):
You have overloaded the scanner. Please wait 3 seconds before scanning again.
Etc.

I agree delays in scanning arent a 'fix' for the issue, a better algorithm for scanning is.. but I dont know of a better one and I don't know enough about how this is stored in the DB to even have a shot... (If CCP want to give me some info I can have a crack at it, but im only a part time coder)

OK, some feedback.. After Me and Siigari were talking in game (I know! I logged in!) we have decided to just disagree with eachother. Is CCP able to show the load the d-scanner causes on the nodes and DB in relation to other operations? (eg, the load a DD does, landing on a grid, shooting someone, etc).
I'm of the understanding that the load will be very high, hes of the understanding that its no higher than a lot of other common operations (like the overview updating). While I can provide code optimizations (in my head) for just about every other operation, the d-scanner is beyond me.
(Siigari, the overview doesnt cause as much load as celestials will be passed when you enter a system and never update so no load at all, and it only shows things that are 'on grid' so it doesn't need to do any math, just pass the objects location every update, so again, very low load)

I noticed that too.. I don't believe it makes any actual difference though seeing as they have have identical stats, just different build requirements.. (ie, does it stop you undocking? I honestly haven't tried but im guessing it doesn't or we would have seen a lot more crying about it)
