Important missions give a modification of the faction standing to the other factions depending on standing of the faction your corp belongs to.
Will those new storlyine agents have the same effect or won't there be any faction-standing changes anymore or will every mission change the faction standing a little bit?
In the New Way Of Things, storyline missions will grant faction standings according to the important mission formula. Some storyline missions are multi-step (such as the Ares Operation), in which case the final step of the mission shall grant the faction standings.

Originally by: Finderne In CSM's and other hints from developers, it was indicated that the Shiva mission system would encourage and support a more team-oriented environment. From what I've heard from Shiva testing (I haven't tried myself), the missions sound harder, and help might be needed by most players to do at least some of these lvl 4 missions. But I don't hear how teamwork is supported other than the same gang structure we've always had.
Is any system planned (either for ordinary missions or installation/dungeon missions) to put any structure into the gangs that one puts together to do missions?
I'm thinking about things like: - Accept a mission as a team. Agent reward, bonus, and standings increases could then be split among that team automatically. An ordinary gang splits bounties only, which means that one person gets standings benefits, and can manually pay team members from rewards. Another benefit could be that the agent knows it's creating a mission for a team vs a single player, and could provide more challenging missions. If teams are not needed for the majority of missions, and if standings gains are not divided among the whole team, then mission runners are better off continuing with the solo approach until they need a team for an especially nasty mission.
- Restrict that mission team to have players with some minimal standing. It doesn't make much sense from an RP view that player X who has horrible standing with a corporation is encouraged by the system to help player Y on his/her missions. Restrictions only seem plausible to me for the dungeon missions. Nothing to prevent any player from reaching the normal mission spawn points otherwise.
No, nothing is currently planned to make the system support teamwork. Ideas for this exist, but they haven't been getting any priority atm.
Umm, give them priority... I've tried to interest a number of my friends in Eve. Most of them left before thier trial ran out for this very specific reason. Lack of team reward for team efforts beyond mining early on or in otherwords no real reason to gang up and meet new people in action for the first half a year to year of play unless your mining which while important to the economy is not the only proffession(excuse run-on). Having played cleric/healer classes in other mmorgs for years I'm rather enjoying the solo life for the time being, yet have to agree with em on this. Although, most em said they would pay for Eve if team missions with team rewards were available from the start of a characters life. --- "Without prospect for death, there is no fun" |

ok so I just completed an important mission for a story line agent, referred to me by my lvl 3 agent (which used to give me +3 INT implants) and I received a huge reward!!
a +1 perception implant and 17k isk.....
you're kidding right?
I can imagine the implant TYPES now being random, but I'm not gonna get +1 implants now everytime am I? I could go to a lvl 1 agent for that and have fun in my impairer instead....

A few questions:
Firstly I had a storyline mission last night - it started at episode 7 of 8. Is that right/usual?
Secondly, the messages for this seemed confused. I did part 7 and the agent said "Thanks, I hope this implant will be useful to you". Which didn't make much sense as the reward for that mission was something completely different. It was only on looking that I noticed that the implant was the reward for the *next* part.
Thirdly, journal is confusing. Storyline missions seem to appear in the active tab rather than the offered tab, even before you've accepted them.
Fourthly, I'm pretty certain my storyline agent suggested I look up another agent - however I foolishly expected the system to keep a note of this (say by adding this other agent to my agent list) and didn't write it down manually. Is this a missing feature or intentional? Or is there any way of finding out who this other referred agent is after that dialogue has been closed?
Lastly, I used to get important missions every 10 or so. It took me something like 25 missions (none failed or declined - none important) before I got this storyline and an important mission. Given I'm only working this level 2 agent to get my Amarr standings up, this is not a good change!

With complexes becoming the ONLY place for kill missions, it's no possible to add depth to the mission with out having any gumps (randomly changing complexs) or few jumps at least. My agent at most makes me do 3 jumps at 4-5 diffrent spawn points last time I did misisons (Before the expasion) While one jump per missions doesn't sound like a whole lot I would say... that a bout 25% of the time I spend traveling, 65% of the time I'm picking up cans and only about 10% of the time really doing the mission. Which is really quite boring. Quite a few people complain that missions become boringly repetive, I think they mean picking up all the cans and flying there, not so much the actual mission.
From what I've read, I'm now going to spend even MORE time picking up cans (There's a lot more ships now = more cans to pick up). No more mwds = more time picking up cans. Travel will be a bit slower, longer jumps because I wont have mwd fitted... Even with the most depth for story lines... the "root" problem for borum is still there.
Now I'm really tried cause it's like 4:40am here few things I can think of to help with this:
Rather then adding a bunch more ships to make it harder add harder ships.
Make only a few ships drop cans but have them drop much better loot.
Very fast Drones to pick up cans.
Having a can behind the rats with loot in it and not having the rats drop loot at all, because you cant just mwd by them any more....
Rather then have us travel through all these jump gates, why not have us fight for a gate at the system were in, that takes us right to the next point we need to go and so on. Even if we still have to fly home the long way, this would help.
Now it's my bed time I hope I made sense and that maybe missions can be done a little faster.

So I finally get a 'storyline' mission today.
0.288% Faction Standing increase. 20k ISK + 20k ISK bonus
The mission was a kill mission (easy), but it has 14j away - took an age to get there, complete and come back.
Hopefully some of this is not correct, otherwise they are seriously different to before EXODUS.

Perversely enough I don't care about the nerfed important missions right now. At least I can hammer my (profitable) Gallente agents without having to go do missions for Caldari to balance standings back up again.
It truly does suck if you're trying to climb up the agent ladder though - assuming of course the low standing increase isn't a bug (which I bet it isn't!).

I have started a new character and after the turorial I got a mail from a Story Line agent. I have now done part 1-4 of the missions The Trojan Horse for Bram Vynneve. The log says those are completed, but where are the rest? When I go and try to talk to the agent she is says that she is busy and that I should leave her alone. Last mission was over 12 hours ago.
Will there be a new mail when she is ready or is something wrong? |

I just completed parts 4-8 from the very same agent. You have to wait for the ok from her again.
She mentioned I should contact a specific agent for a follow on storyline but that agents name was not saved or sent to me in a mail and I have forgotten it. DOH

same for me with Bram (4-8). He talked about another agent "Acharanza Moorne" in the system Vaere. But this is a lvl 1 standard agent! i don't care about it!
Then he gave me a Limited Memory Implant and one Station Container and That's all.
