I scammed someone out of 100m a few days back. And just now a GM reversed the payment.
So, scamming is illegal now? If so, do i have to worry about all my scam money disappearing, leaving my wallet in a black hole?

Something is not right. That should have never been reversed, unless the guy gave you isk he bought or something dodgy.

If you abused the trade window then it's now considered a game exploit. I don't think just a typical trade window scam by renaming a ship, but I guess there was some way to abuse it.
There was a dev blog about it.

No, there was no trade window involved. He donated isk directly to my character, without a contract or trade window.

Scamming has always been legal and I doubt ccp would make it illegal or they would at least tell us. So I would petition it or if this is a troll then cool story bro.

Edited by: Sum Yun''Guy on 23/08/2009 16:38:08 Well, i don't know what GM reversed it. The wallet transaction listed a number "GM [######]. I don't think it would be smart for me to post it here, i know 'gm communication' is supposed to be kept quiet...
Its not a troll. And i did submit a reimbursement petition over it, although we all know how many weeks those take...
I'm just kind of shocked, out of years of scamming like this... this is the first time a GM has ever taken money away from me... for any reason...
I would have thought a GM would also evemail me, or send me some kind of message, detailing the reason why it was reversed...

Petition it. If the GM doesn't do anything, ask to have it escalated to the senior GM.
Either you aren't telling us something, or you got a dumb GM.

the guy you scammed was not only stupid enough to get scammed but he was a RMT customer because obviously anyone stupid enough to fall for that lame scam isn't going to have any hundred mill laying about.

I googled the GM's ID number that is listed in the wallet transactions, and theres a whole slew of posts regarding this exact GM, taking anywhere from 50m to 500m away from people, for no apparent cause
Now, im going to assume that some of these people were indeed sketchy. But my scam, described above, is quoted exactly. That is the exact line i used to scam. I'm not leaving anything out of this whatsoever.
So, i also have to assume a good number of these people, who are complaining that isk is missing for no reason, are legit also.
This is quite disturbing...

Sum, GMs don't reverse transactions for no reason. The only explanation is that the player who sent you the ISK purchased it from a website and was found out, then all the ISK they purchased was reversed, in which case it will not be returned.

It's nice to see a scammer, to be scammed. And by CCP itself, no less! Way to go, unknown GM, hopefully that starts a new trend!

I find alot of idiots who get scammed are the ones with lots of isk from illegimate sources. They fall for scams because they either want more isk(the double isk scam) or like shiny things(navy issues, etc)

I just recieved a speedy reply to my petition, and was told why it was done. Apparently the other guy was using unsavory methods of obtaining his isk.
Sorry to the GM for jumping the gun... i wish they would have explained this to me when they reversed it, though, i was scared and worried my account was permanently marked or something...

I figured that was the reason. There is one other way of having your ISK reversed, and that is if you use macros to spam your scam and are found out, though I'm sure you'd also receive a temporary or permanent ban with that as well.

Sounds about right. The money probably came from some account of some tool who was stupid enough to click on one of the **** links and had his account assets drained.
The tard you scammed didn't get it back. He is probably sitting there with a wallet permanently set in the negatives.
