Allow us to save bookmarks just like fittings for a whole corporation or even alliance.
Reason:
I am living in unknown space for nearly three months now, with 20 other people at the zenith. We spread the bookmarks by putting them into the hangars where people can copy them. Its a repetitive and dull job but we have to do it. Most likely we have round 30-40 bookmarks each day, needed by many people. I don't know where the bookmarks are saved, client or server, but it takes a long time for the client to load the content of a bookmark container. Round 30-120 seconds for a container with many bookmarks. Thats additionaly to the copying process itself a pain in the ass waste of time.
Allow us to save this time. Allow alliances to give theyr members up-to-date bookmarks of jumpbridges. Allow us to save bookmarks in a way other people have easy access to it. Hey, we are 21.000 years in the future, aren't we? ^^

The implications of this would be broader than you think - it'd change fleet movement a fair bit, I expect. That said, I don't consider that a drawback, and it makes sense. Supported.

Anyone who has been into exploration will know how annoying the current bookmark trading system is. Fix it please! *-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^ By the way, I am an Ishtar and T2 sentries fan. Fight to make the sentry damage rig work for all drones. |

I support the idea, but safeguards need to be installed with it. Require roles to make a corp bookmark, dont let them be copied, possibly even a role to be able to use them. Fleet commanders with the correct role should still be able to warp a fleet to a corp bookmark, this would make it more balanced in regards to spies. They could still GET the bookmarks if they got warped to the location (or conned the corp into giving him the role and warped there themselves), but they would have to get there and make a personal bookmark. A balance so getting them is not as simple as just getting an alt in the corp, but still possible. Absolutely everything is subjective. |

Sounds like a great idea until a spy creates manual bookmarks from the corp list and sells them to someone. Bm's are server side for a reason, as well as the laborious act of copying them...

What is the difference between the current situation? Expect that the act of copying them manually will be skipped. There will never be a way of an secure bookmark management published in this game. And I don't it anyway. Not here...
Edit: You don't have to use such a system for confidential bookmarks btw. It would just be very nice from CCP to just give us the option.

Also I'd like to point out that this could serve to reduce database clutter by eliminating the necessity for every pilot to maintain separate sets of bookmarks for the same location.

Yes its so frustrating. This whole BM-copying system has been this way far too long, especially atm with the excessive use of BMs in J space, we definatly need a proper BM-copying/corp-BM system. |

Definitely supported. Add some roles so someone can remove any bookmarks no longer needed, maybe roles on who can and can't use the bookmarks, but even unregulated it gets a thumbs up. Would make life so much easier.

This is at least the third time I see this suggestion. This time though lots of people agree. Apparently you found the right wording. Great.
Supported, of course. I'm still wondering why they didn't implement this a long time ago - it should reduce load on the holy database, and considering how much is sacrificed in its name... |

This is a nice one.
Difficulties I see on the implementation side, as we already discussed with CCP that bookmarks as well as other settings should be stored server-side. They are on the client currently. And CCP was quite reluctant - in fact they said they cannot do it currently.
As a consequence, while I will raise this feature request, I only see a realistic chance of implementation once the server-side storage of settings has been implemented. Let's celebrate this on fan fest 2010. ;)

Actually, bookmarks are stored server side. It's just the bookmark folders that are stored on the client.
But thanks for raising the feature request. The ship fittings savings was awesome. Even if it takes a year for something like this, it'd still be great.

No.
It would be far to easy to move around, especially in a fleet environment. Would undermine the whole idea of Covops and scouts, not to mention make exploration utterly trivial (everyone knowing where everything is the second it is probed down).
Make a central depository (office or HQ) where bookmarks can be entered into a shared folder. Allows for rapid dissemination of locations, removes the need for the Cans'o'Doom but most importantly it does so without obsoleting the roles of scouts and making fleet warp-ins a matter of waiting for bookmark to appear on screen.
Sorry for the hardships you face in W-Space, but it is pretty much what it said on the tin. Out there life is supposed to be hard.
