I just need clarification on a couple of things before i dive in head-first to Faction Warfare.
If i understand it correctly, I will loose Gallente standings every time I kill one of their players engaging in FW correct?
If the above is true and I choose to engage one of them in a -1 to -4 sec system will I as the agressor still loose security status or will I just loose Gallente standings?
If I will loose standings every time I kill one of their players and the reverse is true for them, will we not see a situation in the future where FW players are entirely unable to engage each other in combat due to being banned from each others respective space? Won't this result in a total stalemate (excluding low sec and 0.0 and lets face it, if i wanted to fight there I wouldnt really be in FW)
Cheers.

No.

Neither, they are war targets, pop their ship, crack their pod, **** their frozen corpse.

Well it doesn't seem like you got that FW is mostly happening in lowsec and that in enemy highsec you get their navies on your back... -- 081014 : emoragequit, char transfered to a friend, 090317 : back to original owner blog |

To clarify,
I won't loose faction standing with the opposing nation for killing their FW pilots so as long as i stay away from plexing i can feel free to kill as many of them as i like?
I will instantly become a target of their Navy should I engage one of their FW pilots in their own high sec space?

Correct.

You will instantly be a target on entering enemy highsec; as soon as you join a militia you are flagged as an outlaw to enemy faction navy in their highsec.

Makes sence i guess, think ill join up this evening.
One last question: How significant are the faction reputation losses for taking an enemy plex (if they exist at all)
Thanks for the help.

You don't get a standing hit for taking a plex, instead you get the hit when you go up in rank. It's not a big hit: unless you already have poor Gallente standings, or plan on getting the highest rank, you're unlikely to become a permanent outlaw in enemy space.

I'm -2.2 to gallente but have absolutely no social skills trained at all so i guess I can rectify any further hits i take to prevent becoming outlaw in their space.
Are rank up's forced or a choice? If i can choose to stay at the lowest rank i'll be happy since I just want to lay the smackdown on some people, not really fussed about rewards.
Do the rank ups also affect standings with Minmatar?

Yes, they are faction standing increase, some the same thing applies than when you complete a storyline mission : derivative positive standing to factions friendly to the Caldari and derivative negative standing to their enemies. -- 081014 : emoragequit, char transfered to a friend, 090317 : back to original owner blog |

I may as well just submit to the fact that as a mission runner and wannabe FC pilot, i'm going to be hated by 50% of highsec space hadnt i really?
At least that way I can just get stuck in instead of constantly worrying about whether or not ill be allowed in a system ill never travel to anyway.

If you pod enemy pilots, you'll lose massive amounts of standing towards their Militia Corporation.
My State Protectorate standing is around -9.9 Removed. Please keep your EVE signature related to your EVE persona and not that of a real life politician. Navigator |

You have to take the rank, but it takes more plexes per rank as you go up, so if you're not plexing a lot you won't rank up high enough to cause problems very quickly. When I was in FW I started with a caldari standing of around -2, and by the time I'd got to the sixth Gallente rank it had only fallen to -4ish.
You'll get LP rewards for killing enemy FW players, even if you don't do plexes, anyway.

Is it possible to work your way back from -9.9 faction standing with an empire faction or is it entirely impossible?

When I took part in faction warfare when it first began I noticed that while the standing with your enemies FW corp drops quite fast your actual faction standing loss is minute. At the end of a couple of months fighting I noticed that the enemy corp standing was around -4 but faction wise I was just -0.03.

Great, cheers man. I can deal with being -9.9 with the navy. Just don't want to be banned from their space.

NO! I've been in fw since February, and I've managed to balance my gallente and caldari standings (my only regret is podding a spy in the gallente militia, NEVER EVER pod your own guys :) ).
If you stay out of plexes or leave before they are captured, don't shoot enemy NPC's (easy in lowsec as gallente have no systems), your gallente standings won't change one iota and you can keep your high sec access for when you are out of fw.
