On a market atl I trained Margin Trading to level 4 (long ago, don't even remember why). As I understand, when I place a buy order, only a percent of the total value is taken from my account... got it. But what happens after, when the orders get filled?
A) It gets filled from what's on escrow and when escrow depletes, it takes from my account? B) It takes from my account every time something is bought to maintain the escrow %?
Also... if I forget about it and my account goes broke, what happens?
A) Sale doesn't go through due to insufficient funds on my account? B) Sale goes through but my account goes into negative?
Finally, if my account goes into negative...
A) The item bought goes to my items as is I really paid for it? B) Item gets impounded or something until I pay my market debt?
Ohh... and bonus question... is it work the same for corp orders?
Thanks |

1: A 2: A (this is the margin trading scam, when you've set up over priced sell orders to provide stuff to your over priced buy order (which will fail), with a minimum order size.

Thanks Foundation of the margin trading scam.
Scammer has 205 million in the bank.
Puts up a sell order for something of which there's a single (worthless) item in the region, for say, 210 million.
Puts a buy order for 420 million.
Some dumbass buys worthless item to make an easy 210 million profit, right?
Dumbass tries to sell worthless item for 420 million, fails because scammer doesn't have the funds to pay for it.
Scammer usually offers a contract in local for same worthless item "below market value" concurrently the margin scam to double their pleasure, double the scam.

A) It gets filled from what's on escrow and when escrow depletes, it takes from my account? B) It takes from my account every time something is bought to maintain the escrow %? It is A, but separately for each order.
Each order has separate escrow amount, and when escrow amount of that order goes to 0, rest is taken from your wallet. Game never takes money for one order from escrow of another order.
Shameless Avenger wrote:Also... if I forget about it and my account goes broke, what happens?
A) Sale doesn't go through due to insufficient funds on my account? B) Sale goes through but my account goes into negative? A, and your order is also cancelled.
So if someone knows you dont have enough funds, and your order is top, they can remove your order from market by just trying to sell to it. New to EVE? Don't forget to read: The Manual * The Wiki * The Career Options * and everything else |

It can be a really sneaky scam as well if done right, and not making it all too obvious.. Seeing as it's entirely impossible to tell for sure whether a buy order will go through or not. Unlike most other trading scams where you can tell if you look closely enough.
