I completed a mission and want to see what the next one might be. I selected request mission and reviewed it. I saw that the standings I had was enough so I ignored the mission displayed. I did not accept, decline nor delay the mission. I simply ignored it. Upon mission expiry, I lost corp standings. Why?

If you didn't decline the mission, there should be no standing loss when the mission expires after a week afaik. If that is the case, petition it.

If you request a mission and let the timer run out before accepting you get dinged with a standing hit but if you decline the mission before you accept and before the offer expires you wont take a standing hit.
Why ccp does this is beyond me but hey whatever.

The only thing I can think of is you may have just declined a mission for the same corporation. If the week ended in the 4 hour period, which is also treated as declined, you get the hit.

As it's per agent, not per corp, you can decline multiple missions from the same corp within 4 hours and not take standings hit, just not from the same agent.
The week starts when you first view the mission, so you can't get in a situation where the 4 hour limit and the week expire in the same period.
You must have accepted a mission somewhere, check the details and make sure. Otherwise petition, because this should not happen. ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back? Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University.

Working as intended.
looking into a mission will set it to offered status in your mission log. Not bothering to give the agent a go or a no go will leave the agent wondering if you will do it so he can't give out the mission to someone else (rp'ing stuff). So if then the mission time for accepting or declining expires you get a standing hit, period... it's been like that for a while.
Either accept a mission you looked at or decline it. And if you have declined one before do so after 4 hours of the previous decline and you won't have any problems with a standing hit (except if you start hitting stuff from opposite factions but that is like duh...) ------- Always a deeply religious people, religion remains of great importance to every Amarrian, a fervour which at various times has been responsible both for great good and great evil. |

Absolute rubbish, this was changed recently in a patch. You can view a mission and either ignore it or if you're anal right click and remove it from the journal listing.
The agent may send you a stroppy message, but you don't take any standings hit. Removed. Please keep your EVE signature related to your EVE persona and not that of a real life politician. Navigator |

Correction: it was like that for a while. They changed it right around the time when we got the new mission/agent interface (iirc). ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

I somewhat stand corrected. If the layer guide is up to date and correct.

You can reject a mission offer once every 4 hours on a per-agent basis. If you reject an offer earlier than 4 hours after your last rejection with the same agent, you will incur a standing loss.
Might be the harsh mail you get from the agent that might off put me on the wrong footing here, but i did once notice a standing hit when a mission expired..

The change came in Apocrypha 1.0, but they left it out of the patchnotes. A dev posted about it in the missions forum, but damned if I can find the post.

Edited by: Phantasms Shadow on 26/08/2009 12:31:58 I really appreciate the responses guys.
If CCP claims to have changed the mission mechanic so that simply viewing a mission does not cause a penalty, great.
In my situation, I had been running Lai Dai Corp missions for the obvious reasons. Once I achieved my desired standing level I had four missions offered in my log but none had been accepted. I moved off to Minmatar space to work on other things.
It was time to collect my data cores. I arrived at an agent but he refused to talk to me. I checked my standings. It had dropped slightly. I checked the standing adjustments for the Corp and saw that I had four missions expire with a negative impact from all of them. I ran five courier missions yesterday to recover. Not a big deal but it was surprising.
I do not know why this occurred but rest assured, I did not accept any of the missions. The log clearly stated that they were offered not accepted. I hope no else experiences this oddity. I would welcome anyone else who can spare the standings hit to experiment with this to see if it can be replicated.
Again, thanks guys for you responses.

I have one scheduled to expire within a few hours, can you test if it gave you a faction hit? Cause I really don't want to take a faction hit with Interbus, taking all the empire standings down. ---

Even though i'm not posting much here i do read alot around here and i'm used to direct if not even short fused answers and i'm not bothered with them as long as i know i answer the op or another poster with argumented statements. I'm not inclined to hit the fire button on my pulse lasers to samsh right back... flame warez i have seen enough in my time on WoW.. urgh :P
Back on topic: Give me a week and i can test it on the mechanics of an offered mission giving a standing hit or not.. ATM i'm running Republic Security Services missions for my corp standings, and i can see on some non used agents missions how it will affect standings. If ppl desire me to do so. ------- Always a deeply religious people, religion remains of great importance to every Amarrian, a fervour which at various times has been responsible both for great good and great evil. |

Edited by: Phantasms Shadow on 26/08/2009 18:09:59 I am not able to log on atm, but I do not believe there was a faction hit. Would truely be over the top if there was.
Go for it Shocker, would be interesting to see if this was simply a fluke or a repeatable occurance.

Well here i am again
I can report that after the mail of not accepting the mission i had: - no effect on faction standing - no effect on corp standing - no effect on agent standing
So it's save to let them expire nowadays! ------- Always a deeply religious people, religion remains of great importance to every Amarrian, a fervour which at various times has been responsible both for great good and great evil. |

Well my earlier suggestion was wrong. So here's another, probably wrong too and non really consistent with what the Op said. It could be you get a faction hit for a weeks delay if it was a storyline (although Op said 4 hits for 4 corp missions).
Otherwise it seems it was bugged.

If it happens again, you should probably petition, because I think some of them DO hit you with a standing loss still.
I lost the ability to use one of my research agent because I did 'request mission' then let it expire because there was no trit and I was in a shuttle or some nonsense. I came back later and he told me to get lost. Transaction log showed me I lost 1.xxx% because his mission expired.
A single level 3 fixed it, but like you I was surprised. --- Usagi Tsukino // Miyazaki Zaibatsu

I think it is a Lai Dai agents problem (or some Lai Dai station problem).
I have run R&D missions for years but recently I have added Lai Dai to my list and discovered that there are several R&D bugged agents.
You complete a mission for them and the appropriate item (tritanium or the transported packet) is removed, but the mission is not removed for your mission list.
You need to relog for the completed but not deleted mission to disappear.
If you change agent while a completed (and I mean full completed, included item delivery and acceptance of the delivery) but not deleted mission is still in your mission list you suffer a standing loss.
I have done a bug report, with logfiles, after some further request of informations it is at the filtered level. So it probably is at the bottom of some "lesser bug" pile and no one has looked the last logs.

Used to be true, but no longer. You now take a significant CORP hit as well as agent when you do multiple declines in a row. This is part of the LVL 4 nerf I posted about that everyone LOLed at and said didn't exist.
