Just wanted to warn everyone that last night while I was working some very nice person hacked into my account and basicly stole everything.
I have had all my ships either sold for buy orders or reprocessed, and this includes my carrier!! the thief even had the cheek to fly a ship to Jita and sold stuff there then with all that lovely isk in my account he brought 4 contracts 1 being a shuttle that I brought for 1.3 billion isk!!
the charecter's name was [b]ringoflord[/b, its a 1 day old char who the contracts were set up for.
I have contacted CCP but have heard nothing yet. And before you all start saying I gave my password away I didn't. The only thing I did yesterady was look at buying another char on the EVE forums so I hope that some of you are careful when clicking on those links
Well MR ringoflord I hope you enjoy the isk, or who ever has got it

Did you click one of those links about naked girls caught by satellite watch spammed on the forum?
Since you most liekly still have the keylogger running on your system, log in from another computer and change your password (unless CCP already banned the account pending investigation).
If you still can log in then you have petitioned this under the wrong category, it should be done under "stuck character" for quickest response.
Now clean your computer from the keylogger.

There are two ways to get hacked: 1. You buy ISK from an unsavory site that infects your computer. 2. You do something else to download a keylogger onto your computer.
Either of these are your own damned fault. -----

Did you get any emails about your account, which sounded like they were from CCP?

Using firefox and noscript, a firewall and antivir / spam will give you protection (not 100%, though. Use common sense or better, be paranoid. Tell your son to behave on the internet .

Would like to see a separate pword for forums and game account. If you wanted to check forums from another computer you wouldn't have to worry whether or not that computer were safe.

First off, GET RID OF NORTON. It's absolute crap. Get something decent - if you have to have a all-in-one get something like Kaspersky which isn't as well exploited as Norton is - you'll be relatively safer. Kaspersky even offers a virtual PC in it's latest offering, Internet Security 10 - which runs programs in a "virtual PC", isolated from the rest of the system.
Second, have a word or two with your "son" about where he's been on the Net. Other than that, have a look in your cache folder for whatever browser you use - since most people don't clean their cache themselves, it's often possible to deduce where someone's been from the leftover graphic files. See a lot of **** graphics - it then gets rather obvious.
Thirdly, on another PC have a good antivirus create a "rescue disk" - which'll be a bootable CD that contains the latest version and updates for whatever virus program ran ont hat PC. Boot your computer with that CD< and let it run it's full scans. Won't catch everything, but will be FAR better than running a antivir on a compromised system - some viruses can disable antivir programs, NO virus can disable one if the virus isn't running :)

QFT. IMO anyone who has their account "hacked" should not get it back.

When the OP mentioned his son using the computer for a while, it reminded me of a corpmate who's 3 yearold nephew got a hold of his pc while he left eve running and bought a shuttle for 1 billion isk.
I have come up with two rules regarding children and PC's.
1. Don't let your kid be anywhere near your PC. 2. Failing that, beat him a baseball bat until the neighbors call social services. -- Eventus stultorum magister. |

Another reason for a zero interest NPC bank: so you can deposit large chunks of money and have a 24 hour period before you can pull that money back out.
Don't mind the trolls, we do care, nobody wants to see this sort of thing happen.

So, heres what really happened.
Kid started using computer, it was left on the EVE-Online forum. Kid sees "OMG NAKED PICS" thread link on forum... Oooh. Kid clicks link. Kid sees WARNING (which is typical on "OMG NAKEDNESS") Kid clicks anyway Kid clicks install fake flash update.
Tada. Keylogger installed. Good luck getting him to admit he was trying to get nekkid pics.

My nephew did the same thing once. But he deleted his anti-virus software...
Anyhow, he lost his account, his computer and about all of my respect. (What an idiot). He tried to tell us that he was ONLY playing WoW and he didn't know how those evil viruses got on his computer... One of the viruses' name? THIS-IS-A-****-TROJAN. No joke... I don't let him touch my laptop. ______________________________________

That shuttle trade was to an ISK buyer, hopefully he will be caught too, although he is more likely to get hacked himself now after going to their site. What a shame, more waste of CCP time.

I rate this thread 3 out of 10.
2 points for humor, 1 point because I feel sorry for you.
I would have to say, most likely it's because you bought ISK from ISK spammers in local.

Can you please leave 2008...? All of the new versions (09) of Norton are lightweight, fast and have great scan accuracy. Preconcieved notions are FTL.

Edited by: Tychus on 28/08/2009 22:11:39 Lots 'o edit for the super filter... wow, you jerks are all heart. I heard even Chribba had a virus on his server for a bit. I really doubt all of this comes from naughty web clicks and isky sales. Do we all remember Unholy Rage, where CCP banhammered 6,200 accounts for RMT? This bull**** is pure revenge. Antivirus have a delay time between detection and a patch, and not all servers are monitored 24/7. How many of us would be well and truly boned if the RMT's got a drive by on scrapheap or battleclinic?
100's? 1000's?
Instead of ripping on each other like idiot children, we should be pressuring CCP to change it's business practice to better protect us, it's clients.
1. Key fob for acounts, like wow 2. different PW for forums... derp derp? 3. No interest bank with a 24 hour notice of withdrawel is an Excellent idea!

I have 2 accounts but only 1 was hacked.
I have never brought isk and I have spoken to my son who said he didn't download anything.
So I guess its my bad luck really. Well I hope that this never happands to any one else.
I'm hoping CCP are lookin g into my petition and that will shed some light on what happened and CCP will get enough evidence to ban a few more accounts
