Erebus over NYC
Hey all,
I love EVE, and I have always been fascinated with the scale at which we operate within the sandbox.
So to that end, just for fun, I put together this quick illustration of the Gallente Titan, the Erebus, to see how it stacks up to a common location in our world. I chose New York City as it is a well known tract of land and easily recognizable.
The Erebus is approximately 9.2 miles in length. At this length it fits snugly between Battery Park and Yankee Stadium.
Hope this helps to put the sheer scale of a titan into perspective.

Hey everyone,
Wow! Thanks for all of the comments about the image!
Honestly, I never expected this much interest in the idea.
I do hope to do more illustrations in the future of the smaller ships of EVE. "Smaller" being a relative term of course because even the relatively tiny Tristan, for example, would be about as tall as a 25-30 story office building.
@Neriel Odershank: I can upload a larger one soon. I need to update my Flickr account back to Pro first. When I do I'll update the thread.
@SickSeven: I may just do that. I love that ship.
@Abraham Goldstein: Nope. But thanks for asking.
@CCP Atropos: Whoo! A dev likes my image, thanks!
@Vipeer: I used this chart for estimating the Titan's size. (Be warned it's a BIG file) Beyond that it was a simple conversion from meters to miles. Whether these numbers are "perfect" is for someone else to decide. And as I have no access to an Erebus in game I had to use what was available to me. :)
Thanks again everyone for your awesome comments and support of this idea!

@Guardian Descendent: Wow, that just looks awesome sir. Thanks! Oh man, I love it! That made my day.
@Verone: Thanks sir. Yes, I've read that chronicle as well. I agree that the titan felt a little too small compared to what it "should" be when I made this. That chronicle was in the back of my mind the whole time. Of course, a nine mile long object radiating energy entering the atmosphere of a planet would cause some turmoil no matter what, one would think. Also, from the story there isn't any indication of the size of the planet Goral relative to earth. It may have been significantly smaller and thus the titan's presence could have had a more drastic effect upon it. Who knows. Just my thoughts on it.
Thanks for the feedback!

Edited by: aehric on 16/01/2010 10:30:20 Been a while. Apologies for the wait.
Lots of folks asked for more sizes. I'll see what I can do.
As for other ships...we'll see what happens.
I like that others have tried their hands at these scale mock-ups. Keep at it guys!
