I was wondering what would happen if I have a bpo in research in a POS lab, and then the lab gets destroyed. Will the bpo be destroyed as well?
Thanks.

The BPO can be left in a station in system and never have to touch the lab. So no, it won't be.

Possibly - it may also drop as loot, just like if it was in a ship.
But if there's a station in system and you can rent an office, there should be no need to put a BPO in a lab.

Edited by: Scout33 on 01/09/2009 16:21:05 I do leave the bpo inside the corp hanger in station. I ask because whenever I start a research job, the blueprint is removed from the corp hanger, so I thought maybe it automatically went into the POS Lab.
But it is actually still in the corp hanger?

Depending on how old you are, you may recall the old 5 1/4 floppy disks.
When you put them into the drive, you had to pull the little lever down to engage the motor and heads to read the surface of the disk. The lever itself, along with the motor now in contact with the disk, kept the disk locked inside the drive. If you disengaged the lever, it would stop reading the disk.
That's basically how the BPO in a station works. By selecting a particular BPO in the nearby corp hangar, some little droid or whatever is sticking it into a drive in the station. So "technically" it doesn't show up in the hangar anymore, because its busy being used. But all its doing is transmitting data out to your POS lab, where the research/copy project is happening. And when the lab is done (either by design or by force) with the BPO, it will return safely into your hangar.
Now if you were unwise, and stored the BPO in the lab itself...

You may also have noticed that blueprints vanish from the hangar when put into manufacturing as well, and that can be done totally in an NPC station. It's just that while the BP is in use, it vanishes so it cannot be used for something else. That prevents you from using the same blueprint for multiple simultaneous manufacturing runs or doing ME/PE research on it at the same time. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

And that would just be greedy.*

yes because lots of datacores, decryptors, and data interfaces are worthless
