Hi,
Me and a few buddies created Caldari characters so we'd all start in the same general area. We've been building rep with the Caldari Navy for quite some time now, getting close to jump-clone status. My question is what sort of benefits (besides buying mods/ships from CN) does faction and corp standing give you? And also, I recently jumped to Amarr ships and was thinking of working on my rep with the Amarr Navy to get access their Navy ships. Is it possible to work on rep with Amarr if my rep with Caldari is really high? ie. Can I simply fly to Amarr space and start doing missions for them or will I run into road blocks?
Thanks

I suppose other benefits would be the ability to put up a POS inside Caldari space, access to R&D facilities and agents. Can't think of much else.

Yes, running missions for Caldari also increases your standing with the 3 Amarr factions (Amarr, Khanid, Amatar). You can just go to any of their agents and start running missions given that you have the proper standing to talk to those agents. No roadblocks. I'm doing the same thing myself right now.

Its all dependant on your standings to that other faction. If your standing to the faction at hand is -2.0 or under, they wont give you any missions. Though since you said you have been missioning for the caldari, youd naturally have a good amarr standing, so id say your fine doing missions for amarr.
Other than that, faction standings influence where you can travel. With a -5.0 standing to any faction youl be shot when entering their space, though i hear theyr easyish to just run past. Then theres also the faction ship bpc¦s you can get from having a high faction standing (Around from 8.0 to 9.9 or something, im not sure)
Hope that was helpful

Buddy of mine built up the stand to get a JC and turned out that the Caldari Corp he missioned for didn't offer them so check that the Navy do. Also, there is a high sec Corp that offers free jump clones to anyone, you dont need any standings to get them. Eve mail me in game for the Corps name as I'm in work and cant check it.

You can buy any ship you want off of the market or contracts. No need to earn LP with the Amarr for their ships, just buy it with cash in contracts, or trade a Navy Raven for one. |

When people say -2.0 standings you can't get missions from them...
Does this mean that because Diplomacy gives you 0.4 bonus per level to standing (with factions with neg standings) that Diplomacy trained to Lvl 5 would give you 0, so any less than -2.0 and you can't do missions for them?
Or less than -2.0 effective standings with a faction you can't get missions from them, so you could have up to -3.9 standings and Diplomacy Lvl 5 would give you -1.9 effective standings and you can still do missions?
I hope that made sense...

The latter. Your effective standing beeing > -2 (after skills) is what is important for getting missions from agent.

Another bonus you get from faction and corp standing is for using stations services. High corporate sttus (6.67 IIRC) removes the station cut from any reporcessing/refineing you do. Also, I believe, there is a reduction on some of the fees for buying and selling.

(Caldari and Amarr are friends) <--Enemies--> (Minmatar and Gallente are friends)
You need to choose one side or the other, C+A or M+G.
You would have some difficulty with high Caldari faction and trying to work for Gallente for example - although it's not impossible. ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back? Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University.

I believe as long as you baqllance out your mission work you can maintain good standing with all races.
The racial gain is higher than the racial loss.
So it will take longer to get them high but you wont suffer from being banned from one or more race's space.

You can maintain good, but not great, standing because of the way that derived standings work.
Every time you gain standing with one faction, this causes a derived standings change for just about every other faction - which is positive for their friends and negative for their enemies. Because of the way standings changes work (a proportion of the distance to +10/-10), the higher your current standing is, the smaller the effect of increases and the greater the effect of decreases.
Thus no matter how high you train your social skills, if you're trying to stay on good terms with everyone there comes a point where the standing loss from running an enemy faction's storyline is equal to the standing gain from running your own storyline, so you can't get it any higher. I believe that with perfect social skills this point is around +5.0, though I can't remember the actual number since it didn't have any relevance to me.
It's something to bear in mind - if you keep jumping around doing missions for alternative factions you will not be able to bring them all to +10 eventually. You can either have good standings with everyone (and take a lot longer to get there), or great standings with a pair of allied races.

This might be rather obvious, but running missions against other empires will negatively affect their standing towards you. Participating in faction war can ruin your standings. It is also one the most effective ways to raise your standing with a faction. My advice is not to obsess about it, but make sure they don't drop TOO far. Finally, you can run COSMOS missions to boost your faction standings. --- Sol: A microwarp drive? In a battleship? Are you insane? They arenĘt built for this! Clear Skies - The Movie |
