Edited by: Marine HK4861 on 02/09/2009 07:26:19 In order for leadership skills to work, you need to be in a properly setup fleet and people need to be undocked and in the same solar system.
A properly setup fleet requires an unbroken chain of command:
- a squad leader can command 2 people per level of Leadership.
a wing commander can command 1 squad per level of Wing Command. the fleet commander can command 1 wing per level of Fleet Command.
All leaders need to be undocked and in the same solar system to pass on their bonuses.
Only the highest level skill counts, they only filter down and they don't stack. Example 1: A wing commander has armoured warfare 5 and the squad leader had armoured warfare 4, everybody would get the the bonus for AW5.
Example 2: The wing commander only has AW2 and the squad leader has AW5. The squad would get the bonus for AW5, but the wing commander would only get the bonus for AW2.
By default, the leader is also the booster, so the leader's skills is used to determine boosts. This can be reassigned, so taking the second example above, you could assign the squad leader with the better skills as the wing booster so that everybody gets the bonus for AW5.
All the skills do exactly what they say in the description. The second tier skills (eg siege warfare specialist) only work with warfare links, which can only be fitted to certain ships (command ships, battlecruisers, orca, rorqual, titans and carriers/motherships).

I have some problems with this as well, if anyone can help, please do.
The problem: we are 3 friends ( reactivate our accounts recently ) and oftern travel in fleet, mainly mission running. I am the only one who has trained some leadership skills ( lvl 3, nothing fancy ). When we gone out to test this thou, we got what seem as "random" results. Mostly i got the various bonusses alone. If i'm not the fleet commander and i'm booster, i sometime share them with one of my friends, but not both of them.
The question: do my friends need some skills in leadership to make this work, or what kind of setup should i use for the 3 of us to get the bonuses. i don't have wing command or anything, just leadership and information/armor/siege/skirmish warfare to 3.
Thank you, Michael

I think you are having the same problem as I had with my Orca bonuses with mining alt.
I would form the fleet but my alt didnt get bonuses.
You have to move yourself down to Squad Commander and have your other guys be Squad Members.
Hope this helps! ------------------------ Jint Hikaru - Miner / Salvager / Explorer "I've got a couple of Strippers on my ship... and they just love to dance!" ------------------------ |

Most people want Moar Shield, Moar armor, or moar mining, the others arn't as in high demand...
The Intakis have an obligation to defend the Federation, but not to assult others on its behalf. |

That's perhaps because people don't realize that things like lower signature and higher velocity are just as important for survival as more armor and shield. We have to help explain that for example the gang armor resist bonus will be stacking nerfed against their own tank, while signature bonus will not (I think ), and the signature bonus will cause opponents to get longer lock times on you and turrets and missiles will not hit you as hard.

Please note the part of my post regarding an unbroken chain of command.

I don't think the signature bonus is stacking penalised, so enjoy your halo implants in your interceptor.
A minor point - turrets are less likely to hit you, but will still hit as hard. This is an important distinction when flying small ships against BS which will flatten you with a single hit.
