Would an Ishtar be able to handle most 0.0 combat sites in Providence? I assume (and hope, for easy resistances) will all be Sansha? I'm not expecting to go into a 10/10 or anything, just for something a little more fun and hopefully more profitable than ratting. I tried a passive shield fit but with the huge EM hole I just shouldn't get a decent tank on it. Here's an armor fit I came up with:
[Ishtar, Exploration Armor Tank] Medium Armor Repairer II Medium Armor Repairer II Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor EM Hardener II
10MN Afterburner II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
Core Probe Launcher I, Core Scanner Probe I Salvager I Salvager I Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Ogre II x5 Hobgoblin II x5
However, on another note, I now have one of those annoying sigs. |

Edited by: Cardiana on 03/09/2009 22:15:59 solid fit for sanshas you have there.
personally id swap the hardeners for 2x eanm + damage control tho, if run into cpu probs use an faction anp or even eanm. its not to expensive.
other then that id also fit an mwd for safety reasons so you can always burn back to the gate should you find yourself in a gatecamp.
also in that scenario the passive tank above will give you more protection since you prolly will get neuted to hell which means no cap for hardeners.
on that setup id also swap one cap recharger for a large peroxide cap battery thingie and as rigs id use cap recharger thing aswell as an aux nano pump for more rep. with ab and max cap skills that can run forever (3 small blasters included).
concerning the core probe launcher.... first of all it is slow.... second of all u might have real trouble finding the harder sites without high skills.

Well, would I be able to take the harder sites solo anyways? As for the tank, I've been ratting in CVA space for days in a Vexor and I've had zero issues with hostiles. *shrug* I think I'd rather keep the Sansha tank so that I don't have to worry about being undertanked. And how else would I find the sites? Imo the time spent flying around in a CovOps and then flying back to a station and swapping ships would probably be more than the time saved by using a CovOps to scan. Maybe not, I'll have to try it out I guess. However, on another note, I now have one of those annoying sigs. |

the tank i mentioned will be quite sufficient except maybe for some hardcore ded plex as i havent done any of those. unfortunately i am not sure if you will be able to find them without covops. so all that is left for you are the other sites and biggest i ran into there was 8 tyrants+support spawn while being in their optimal. that was tough. could only kill one tyrant then had to warp out and back in, but you can do it also wihtout warping if you simply keep outside of their optimal. with mwd thats easy or just warp into the site at 100km and make a bm. cakewalk.
bms always good for also quickly warping around i the site from wreck to wreck. can turn out a real mess with many spawns.
oh and also kill any structures in the site for possible escalation. marcant structures like a station or stargate. things like that. unfortunately i didnt know this fact at first.

Not to threadcrap, but is there any reason Curators are better than Gardes & Bouncers (what I use) ?

Would recommend garde over a bouncer.
Less range, but higher damage mod and still sansha weakness (therm vs em).

My drone bay consists of:
5x Garde II 5x Bouncer II 5x Warrior II 5x ECM
The Bouncers are for when you need to keep range. They still pop frigs quickly, and cruisers still go down in acceptable amount of time. I would say their main use in exploration would be taking out towers of various sorts, as there are definitely times you don't want to go rushing in to a blob of crosses.
I have done my share of 0.0 exploration using a setup similar to:
[Ishtar, New Setup 1] Damage Control II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Omnidirectional Tracking Link I 10MN MicroWarpdrive I Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Magnetic Scattering Amplifier II
Salvager I Salvager I Prototype 'Poncho' Cloaking Device I Core Probe Launcher I, Core Scanner Probe I Medium 'Solace' I Remote Bulwark Reconstruction
[empty rig slot] [empty rig slot]
Garde II x5
-------- Sentry rigs make it mean, but will test your computer systems. There are sacrifices to be made and implants to be bought to make it pump more dps.
For more enjoyment and greater efficiency, consumption is being standardized.

I like to get in there and mean with plexs and anomalies, (mainly anomalies) which is why I use this ishtar fit....
[Ishtar, Green Smiley Sansha] Medium Armor Repairer II Armor EM Hardener II True Sansha Energized Thermic Membrane True Sansha Energized Reflective Membrane Damage Control II
Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive
Modal Ion Particle Accelerator I, Antimatter Charge M Modal Ion Particle Accelerator I, Antimatter Charge M Modal Ion Particle Accelerator I, Antimatter Charge M Salvager II Prototype Cloaking Device I
Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I
Acolyte II x5 Infiltrator II x5 Praetor II x5 Praetor II x5

you never did sansha exploration sites did you? curators are handy here because 1) em damage which is weakest resist and second they fit perfectly the range.
bouncer is completly wrong damage type and would thus only suffice maybe to kill frigs. still with scram frigs you would have abit of trouble killing all if it is many.
garde is wonderfull but much to short range in alot of cases.
