Ok the bug was suppose to have been fixed several patches back but i guess its still a random problem. I use to own 1 little lab slot but not any more.
I placed a bpo in to research ME it said it would take 15 days, ok no biggie, 1 week into the the research i get a bill for the slot i paid it went to check make sure it was still researching and it was still had like 2 weeks left. 2 days later i get a eve-mail that my rental fee was refunded due to not using the slot. I said wtf and did the 1 jump to get to lab slot sure enough slot is gone and none to be found in a 10 jump radius for the last 2 weeks. Petioned devs right after the bug happened got the reply basicall sorry we can't help you.

Is this a random problem or is it chronic?
I just got our first lab slot a few days ago and I would be a very unhappy camper to find out that I lose it to a game bug.

Is this a random problem or is it chronic?
I just got our first lab slot a few days ago and I would be a very unhappy camper to find out that I lose it to a game bug.

yeah its a cronic problem. watch the forums and in game and you will see people having the problem pretty much daily. Yet the devs have chosen to remain silent on the matter. Why they will make no comment is beyond me. They are happy to comment on stupid trivial matters but quite happy to let people spend a fortune of isk and skill points to become a researcher and have it go to waste. Nice way to make happy customers CCP.
How about a comment Devs? i've seen several people requesting them in the last few days. Its not that hard to push reply and say we are too busy spending the day finding the proper shade of grey to make that cloud in Shiva to bother fixing the lab slots.

Yeah, the bug hit us too. Lost one of 8 slots, so I figured no big deal and knew the petition wouldn't do anything. Sent a corp mail out about it and the next day it apparently happend to someone else in the same station. Only difference is one of my corpmates got that slot so we are back up to 8 again. 
I collect ships. Can I have yours? |

I am new to the whole lab slot/research thing, but I have been searching for a long while. About 5 days ago I found one slot open and I grabbed it and started testing ME research, everythign worked great, then I through a cruiser BPO into the research slot and it said 11 days or something, sure no problem. Next day, I find my BPO in my personal hanger and the lab slot is rented to someone else. Someone told me I forgot to pay rent, but all my factory slots and offices are automatically deducted from my corp account, is this not true for lab slots or is this the bug?
Thanks for any info you can provide, because I seriously do not want to lose anothe rlab slot, whenever I find one again.

If you have the corp pay for your slots, one of the directors or ceo will still have to look up the corp bills and pay them. It's possible they missed yours.

Besides... if you say the BPO was in your personal hangar that means that the bill was sent to you, not to the corp also if you don't have an office there - you can't have a corp lab slot...
If it is a personal lab you have to check the bills and pay them regularly. No other way.
You can be lucky with lab slots... I docked at my lab station yesterday and found one free... 4 others came free within the next 10 seconds...

This same thing happened to me TWICE this week. These are all personally rented lab slots and I never received a bill via evemail.
The first time it happened I lost out on my slot. The second I was lucky enough to be logged in when it happened. With this system as broken as it is, it's basically turned me into a station hermit which isn't very fun on the whole.
Devs care to take a stab at this?

BTW, exactly how long is it supposed to take, from the moment we receive a bill to the point were the slot is unrented. Is it supposed to be instantaneous?? Or isn't it supposed to take a day or 2 before the slot is unrented??

I don't see why that can't be done now. Create some extra slots in Empire space somewhere safe. When a lab eject bug hits if its a confirmed bug (say the BP checks out, was researched, fees were paid, still ejects) the Devs could then give one of the "new" slots to the victim.
They did this before after Castor in a big way DOUBLING the number of slots per station. They need to take care of this.

I've heard its supposed to be two days but I would pay it IMMEDIATELY. When you rent a lab or factory the bill shows up immediately. I pay it right then. Then I mark it in my desk calender (have a special calendar for skills/rents) so I know when it will come up again. Usually the bill shows up due in a couple days. Again when you see the bill due PAY IMMEDIATELY. Don't wait until the due date.

Im new to labs my self :) and luckaly i have yet to be hit by this bug 
I might be a bit off topic, but i would like to know .. when shiva/EXODUS comes out .... will our lab slots still be rented .. or will it be gone  I my self, just in case, am keeping my alt in the station were my lab is i sujest every one else do that also :P just in case
