Hi there,
I'm exploring new ways to make some isk and thought that running transport to dangerous places could provide me with some fun time.
Can anyone share me with his/her experiences in this?
What makes more sense? To establish a trade route between "high and low sec" or "high and null sec"? To buy and resell stuff just by moving it from one ocal trade hub to another or doing contracted transports? Or anything else?
I don't expect that you tell me your business secrets, just some basic pointers in what makes sense.
Thanks

I did 0.0 hauling for a couple months, made about a billion; it's an exciting way to make your money but not an especially efficient one. I can't speak for low sec but I wouldn't expect much from it; it's too close to empire hubs and empire prices.
If you haul to 0.0 you'll probably be hauling to a NPC owned region of 0.0, with NPC stations you can dock at without getting standings from an alliance; you won't get standings set for a single person to haul. So, that's Syndicate, Venal, Curse, Stain, and one constellation of Fountain. Markets there tend to be sparse, with pockets of decent selection where moderate sized corps/alliances base out of. Volume is low, markups are middling to high. Demand is mostly for consumables like t2 drones and ammo, and to a lesser degree t2 fittings and ships.
The locals are hostile, and you can expect any given entry point to 0.0 to be bubble camped at least a third of the time. Also expect drag bubbles in systems with only two gates.. count on them if they're near an entry point.
If you've lived in 0.0 for a while and understand how things work, blockade running can be a good time. I would strongly advise against making it your first venture into 0.0 though; the exposure is huge and the potential monetary rewards are not enough to justify it alone. Flying a defenseless ship carrying tens of millions worth of loot would be a painful way to learn.

The trouble is that this is easier said than done. If you just want to hang out in a constellation and mission or rat, it's manageable to get to know a handful of corps that frequent the area. If you want to haul without getting shot, you need to get standings, because getting to know hundreds of people who fly on your routes is not manageble.. and could even be counterproductive. You wouldn't wanna be widely known as That Guy You Can Kill For Mods.

Also - and living near one of these regions I have first hand experience of it - the alliances are constantly in conflict playing political games. So, the blues you met yesterday oh sh!t today are red and bubble and pod you (and your hauler). - Auditing and consulting

If you can haul in bulk POS fuel and GSC can be a good money maker too. -- 081014 : emoragequit, char transfered to a friend, 090317 : back to original owner blog |

Cheers to all who responded. Looks like the political considerations are more important than the economical ones :) I'm looking forward to this though.

Very true, never said it was easy, and it's not a 100% thing, never is. But you can get invited to an intel channel and since you're wandering a lot, can help out in that regard too. Might even come help ya if you're being camped, keep up with the political winds, etc. Just be willing to help them when they need it to, either with guns or something they need. Gifts and gratitude can go a long way.
Not all neg sec status players are "pirates", some are simply teritorial types that have fallen victim to the fubar Eve sec status scheme.

Edited by: Mankil on 08/09/2009 19:11:17 Blockade runner is the only way to go unless you can JF into the space. I think POS fuel would be tough to do in enough quantity to make it profitable unless you had an arrangement with the locals. Generally, 0.0 alliances have incredible logistic teams which keep them stocked with basics.
Geminate is another 0.0 space you could try with NPC stations, but be careful the natives are hostile.
If you post here the times you will be making the runs and where you are going I am sure someone here could help.

It should be pointed out that some alliances (say, the one I'm in), almost never/never set individuals blue, and don't set corps/alliances blue unless their actual allies. A random dude wanting to haul to NPC space would probably never qualify. So, keep that in mind if you head to Delve NPC space.

Yeah, being part of a 0.0 alliance has its perks.
POS fuel is my best money maker. Just hang around and eventually learn the times when reds aren't active, then haul in Isotopes. Easy 25-30mil per run. Sells in < day

Okay so how does this work? I live in Japan so I get to play a little before and after downtime everyday. I hear that trading in 0.0 is a lot safer right after downtime because the pirates haven't logged on or prepared themself by then lol.
Anyways would I need an alt to check for prices in 0.0? Basically I buy a bunch of Isotopes from high-sec, then transport them to 0.0 stations, create a contract and wait?

DT hauling works, but, keep in mind, your not the only one knowing and doing that ( including logging in after DT on a gate with bad intentions for your hauler ;) )
So far got away with it, but had some close call's with hauling in stuff.
But it's like regular trading, haul in stuff , put on market = profit (ofcourse if you have the right stuff)
I higly recommend scouting your area & route of intrest very good with a small ship before you take in a industrial.
You don't have to go big, 0.01 size stuff can bring a nice profit to, and you can use a fast ship for that.

They could fly stuff to 319 or PR- and just put it on the market. I know I'll occasionally pick up stuff out there if there's nothing in our space that's not at ridiculous prices.
