Hello i just wanna know, if that is possible Or a bad idea to make a skill for the Autopilot.
1) only allowed in high sec 0.5 - 1.0 2) each lvl, 3 km closer to gate jump in Autopilot 3) to max the skill 2,3 or more millions...
thanks for reading *g*

Edited by: Mad Maulkin on 08/09/2009 10:24:43 Yeah, eve dont support (most) afk beaviour...
At the same time my brain started to write up the text on the skill...
"... skill at coding your onboard computer in locking on to the beacon of jumpgates and sucessfully juming closer to the gate, when using the autopilot...
Only gates in highsec posses such beacons, because of high pirate activity, concord removed all such beacons from low and 0.0 security space... Any attemt of other factions to install such beacons have resulted in the gate shutting down, and Sansha and Gurista scientists are still working on a way around Concord security..."
Skill: each lvl of the skill takes you 1.5km (2km?) closer to the jumpgate when autopiloting

This has been requested a lot, I mean even a few posts below yours (before I replied), I guess you missed this one while you were checking for similar topics before posting.

Anyway, Autopiloting should always have a penalty.... the game should not be easier to play while AFK. ------------------------ Jint Hikaru - Miner / Salvager / Explorer "I've got a couple of Strippers on my ship... and they just love to dance!" ------------------------ |

Sorry, but it is not only for playing AFK. When I go on a ride with my Buzzard I am happy to got an MWD which brings the ship up to over 2k m/s. When I were able to get closer to the gate I would be very happy .

I forgot tow important things.
The Skill should not be open for everyone. It should be a Rank 5-10 Skill an nobody should have access until Navigation is up to Level 5.

I don't think it should be skill based or there'd be no opportunity to ambush people in low/null sec w/o the equivalent of the cart blocking the road.
I'd propose a module based autopilot, mid slot, lots of cpu, moderate pg

CONCORD has determined after several tragic accidents that active warp drives within, oh, 10 kilometers from stargates can cause feedback loops which cause the stargate to assplode. All ships' navigation computers have been modified to drop out of warp 10k from the gate at all times, regardless of the instructions of the pilot. ---- Suddenly Ninjas Blog: My Loot, Your Tears

Don't have silly gates. Find a new way for non-consent PVP and let's get eve out of the 90s!

Not being able to create bookmarks closer than 15km of a jump gate or what's the term "large collidable objects"?
However, NOT having an autopilot thousand of years in the future, with cool technologies like cloaking, is downright silly.
Got to have Autopilot in space, it's a fundamental function. Not having an autopilot is a pretty lame excuse for forcing people to be not AFK.
Furthermore, the argument that in order to have people given a chance to attack you while AP'ing, is even lamer. It's like using a reason for creating a shopping mall be "so that the kids have somewhere to hang"? Go hunt for prey, if you want a kill. I mean, where's the "sport" in having 20 ships at a gate, killing a single ship? It's like having 20 hunters with heavy rifles surprising a bear, he wouldn't stand a chance, even if he tried. Sadistical spirit, rather than a hunting one.

(2^(jumps-1)*1000) : 15000 //(meters) example: 1 jump route : should be 1 km warp to the outbound gate 2 jumps route: should be 2 km warp to the outbound gates 3 jumps route: should be 4 km warp to the outbound gates 4 jumps route: should be 8 km warp to the outbound gates 5+ jmps route: should be 15km warp to the outbound gates
Basically you can do faster auto piloted short trips if the number of jumps are less than 5. If you got a route with more than 4 jumps the autopilot behaves "normally".

Welcome back Captain Obvious! _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Seriously guys, what's the big deal with the AP warping to 15km? If you use it then you're most likely away from the screen or have your attention elsewhere. So what difference does it make if you're gone for 15 mins washing dishes or 30 mins? |

What about a compromise?
With no skill AP warps in at 20km off gate. With skill at lvl 5 AP warps in at 10km off gate.
Without skill, it would actually take longer than it does now, making pirates happy. With full skill, it would take shorter than it does now, making everyone else happy.

Warp To Zero (WTZ) was not something CCP wanted to do, but something they were forced to do because of bookmark overload of the database.
Their game design was that you ALWAYS warp in at 15km, mainly because this makes the EVE universe 'bigger' (and personally I still think this would make a better game).
Insta bookmarks had already ruined that, and was becoming a serious database problem because people were storing and copying millions of bookmarks. Thus WTZ was implemented and all insta's deleted from the database.
The 15km was kept for auto-piloting to make it less safe to 'play without playing', and I think the chance of CCP changing their minds is wafer-thin at best, more likely completely non-existent!
