Somehow I don't think the Eve-Online EULA has a whole lot of weight in a RL courtroom CCP would get laughed out of the courthouse. "But Your Honour, TWO POINT FIVE BILLION ISK!!1!!!!1"

CSM candidates had to sing a real life NDA before CCP would tell them anything. As far as im aware Lark signed this and then broke it. CCP is actually being p.chill in not doing much about it. Upcoming game mechanics changes would be covered under some sort of privacy/secrets law RL.

If any of you are feeling heartbroken, abandoned, or manipulated you may certainly come by my office and talk to me at your convenience. We can talk and find a way to cope with this situation, together.

I second that. I even voted for him as some "bad boy" in the CSM seemd to be a good idea. But not that literarily.

Edited by: Durzel on 09/09/2009 08:12:52 Whilst only 2.5b is involved in this particular incident the principal of breaking the NDA is the bigger issue.
Since EVE ISK can essentially be converted into real cash (see EBANK Ricdic) exploiting this sort of insider info does have pretty close corollaries with actual real-life insider trading.
Irrespective of this NDAs are legal documents and signing one and breaking it opens that person up to legal action (which means they have to at the very least retain the services of a lawyer) and subsequent examination of the financial or punitive harm caused, etc.
Do gamers often get prosecuted for breaking NDAs? No. Can they be? Yes.

To the defend Lark mobile!!
He has said he was drunk and made a huge mistake. I've read his explanation of what happened (I was going to repost it here, but I wont) and how he has handled himself since the incident and I can honestly say I believe him and I'm still glad I voted for him. If he were to run again (and CCP hasn't stopped him, but he has said he wont) I would gladly vote for him again.
His work on the CSM so far has been excellent (despite me trolling him at every opportunity) and he has bought nothing but great ideas to the table. If all of the CSM acted as professionally and with as much dedication as he had up to this incident eve would be a much better place for all of us.

Because it would go absolutely nowhere if somebody tried. You're gonna have your NDA and your expensive lawyers and your grounds for pursuing legal action against somebody, and at the end of the day you're talking about cheating in a videogame in front of a judge. It would be a colossal waste of time and money and a huge embarrassment for everyone involved.
